THE DURBAN FILM OFFICE The Durban Film Guide is loaded with productive information about film and television production in Durban and KwaZulu Natal. Designed as a comprehensive tool for locally based and visiting film and television professionals, the Durban Film Guide is produced by the Durban Film Office, a division of the eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development Department. MISSION Durban is the country’s most attractive film and television production destination. The mission of the Durban Film Office, a division of the Economic Development Department of the EThekwini Municipality is threefold. Primarily, it serves to attract productions into the region including feature films, television commercials, video productions, music videos, and corporate industrials. Secondly, it streamlines the production process by acting as the liaison between government, the production company, and the local community. Lastly, the Film Office serves to build the local film and video community in every way possible, recognizing the tremendous economic impact the industry has on local vendors and job creation, as well as its profound public relations effects for the region. MARKETING The Durban Film Office actively markets Durban to the production industry in an effort to attract new projects to the area, strengthen the industry’s infrastructure, create new jobs, and boost the industry’s economic sector.
