Celebrate New Years Eve 2012 at d’albora Marinas Nelson Bay! d’Albora Marinas Nelson Bay will once again stage NYE Celebrations by hosting the NYE Fireworks display for the Port Stephens Community and visitors to the bay! Ka-boom Fireworks will fill the sky with a “Spectacular” display at 9pm. Focus being “Family Fun”. This well established event will play host to many amusements located on the marina, Aerojump, Sand Art, Jumping Castles which will certainly keep the kids amused. Live Entertainment! Local performer Mick Jones will play from 12:00 – 3:00pm. Mick a local resident of the bay and has a great following playing a wide range of popular songs from the 80’s to today’s top hits! The Fruit Trees are a folk group from the Hunter Valley NSW and will be performing from 6pm until the 9pm fireworks. Their acoustic melodies are made up of originals and covers. Together they offer a unique combination, making for a friendly, relaxed evening of entertainment. Special Olympics National Junior Games From 6th - 10th December 250 athletes between the age of 8 - 15 years will come to Athletes Olympic Village situated at Newcastle University to compete in the 3rd Junior National Junior Games. competing in Swimming, Cricket, Basketball, Tennis and Soccer with Skills programs in Gymnastics and T-Ball. This is part of the Special Olympics Movement, an organisation that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability. The Junior National Games are held every four years and are specifically designed to provide an opportunity for athletes under 16 to experience quality competition and for the majority of these children it is the first chance they have to leave home on their own and compete at a National Level. The Opening Ceremony of the Games will be held at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium on the 7th December and will showcase the athletes, local dance and performance groups, the Police Law Enforcement Torch Run and country music talent Amber Lawrence.
