t is obvious what we want to achieve with variable speed pumps: to save energy and reduce noise and possibly increase the power density of hydraulics. To explain only how to put the electro-hydraulic package together does not provide enough insight. The total hydraulic system functionality needs to be looked upon in the light of competing technologies.
