anta Eulària, a small town on a river which sometimes runs dry, has two traditional cafés. They are of the kind beloved by the adventurous traveller and the canny foreigner. The first of these, the Royalty, was formerly frequented by people who were financially better off, politically conservative and loyal devotees of the Roman Catholic Church, people who went to mass on Sundays and feast days. The second, the Cosmi, took in those rather lower down the social scale: peasants, sailors, artisans and labourers, office clerks and manual workers. Some of them also worshipped God, but in a rather different way. This class distinction lasted until mass tourism arrived on our shores, lets say, until about the beginning of the 60s. anta Eulària, la villa de un río por el que no siempre fluye agua, dispone de dos cafés tradicionales, de esos que tanto gustan a los viajeros intrépidos y los forasteros listillos. A uno, el Royalty, acudían las personas de mayor poder adquisitivo, políticamente conservadores y fieles creyentes de la iglesia católica, apostólica y romana, los de misa de domingos y fiestas de guardar. El otro, el Cosmi, acogía a gente de baja extracción social, payeses, marineros, artesanos y obreros, humildes trabajadores de red, pico, pala y azadón. Algunos de ellos también alababan a Dios, aunque de un modo muy distinto. Tal división de clases perduró al menos hasta la llegada del turismo de masas, allá por los años sesenta del siglo pasado, cuando ambos locales se convirtieron en lo que son hoy día, los emblemas de una comunidad desarrollada,

Sie sind von der Art, wie sie den kühnen Reisenden und den cleveren Fremden so sehr gefallen. Das eine, das „Royalty“, besuchten früher die Personen, die finanziell etwas besser gestellt, politisch konservativ und treue Anhänger der katholischen, apostolischen oder romanischen Kirche waren. Diejenigen eben, die sonntags und an den Feiertagen in die Messe gingen. Das andere, das „Cosmi“, nahm die Leute auf, die sozial etwas niedriger standen: Bauern, Seeleute, Handwerker und Bauarbeiter, einfache Angestellte und körperlich arbeitende Menschen.
