The envelope of my building is designed not only according to the loads and function of the block, but also to the esthetic aspects. Because of my building is designed in a scatter manner, the envelope should be considered in a consistent manner. For the theater, I need to consider the air quality, control energy consumption, avoid condensation, and provide comfort. For the exhibition part, I pay much attention on air movement and max use of natural lighting. The whole physical components of envelope include the foundation, roof, walls, doors and windows. I design them in a proper dimensions, performance and compatibility of materials, fabrication process and details. What’s more, the connections and interactions are the main factors I designed so that the effectiveness and durability of the building enclosure system is largely enhanced. When considering thermal comfort, I believe envelope design can do a lot of things. Thermal comfort is difficult to measure because it is highly subjective. It depends on the air temperature, humidity, radiant temperature, air speeds, activity rates, and clothing levels. As the most important part of my envelope design is the front façade of theater which use LED glass tube as its finish and lighting systems both in daytime and night.
