MESSAGE FROM THE LORD MAYOR OF MELBOURNE In 1989, Melbourne was the first Australian city to form a sister-city relationship with a Russian city, St Petersburg then known as Leningrad. This year we mark 25 years of solid collaboration and friendship which has strengthened to include many cultural and educational exchanges between our two cities. St Petersburg has a remarkably rich history, particularly in music and the performing arts. Home to many of the great composers and splendid art museums, it is a city that cherishes the artistic impulse just as we do in Melbourne. I can think of no better representative to encapsulate all that is Melbourne than the Corpus Medicorum Orchestra. The City of Melbourne is proud to support the orchestra’s visit to St Petersburg and trusts that it will be an opportunity to identify medical exchanges and dialogue between hospitals in each city. Council’s funding will contribute to scholarships for six students to participate in this ‘one chance of a life time’ tour to Russia. ABOUT ADVITA AdVita’s mission is to help cancer patients get access to the most effective treatments available. We want to make sure that our patients’ lives depend not on their income or birthplace, but on the progress of modern medicine. We focus mainly on supporting children and adults undergoing treatment in St. Petersburg, Russia or those travelling for treatment abroad. Many of them come from remote parts of Russia and the former Soviet Union. Some patients require bone marrow transplants that are donated by foreign donors. Some, who have rare and less-studied types of cancer, have to travel for treatment or clinical trials abroad. AdVita works with six cancer hospitals in St. Petersburg and supports hundreds of cancer patients and their families from Russia and the former Soviet Union with daily purchases of medications, medical supplies, lodging and other treatment-related expenses.
ABOUT CORPUS MEDICORUM Corpus Medicorum is a symphony orchestra of Melbourne’s esteemed doctors, nurses, dentists and health professionals who are passionate and accomplished musicians and use their remarkable talents to raise funds for medical causes.

Сестринская благотворительная организация AdVita Fund USA организует консультирование, обследование и лечение пациентов за рубежом, если помощь не может быть оказана в России, а также помогает оплачивать петербургским пациентам поиск донора в международном регистре. Помощь получают до тысячи человек в год, постоянная поддержка оказывается шести петербургским больницам.
