Planting Trees to Celebrate Princess’ Birthday

On 17 May the Cha-Am District Chief Officer, Mr. Phitthaya Wongkraisrithong joined a tree planting ceremony to celebrate HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s 60th birthday anniversary. The event took place at of the Demonstration Centre of Hub Kra Phong Cooperatives Project and was also attended by Members of Biker Thailand and staff from the Demonstration Centre including the Director of the Demonstration Center Mr. Sayan Sonjai and the Chairman of Biker Thailand Mr. Jirasek Watthanamongkhol. The activity aimed to honour the Princess as involving Members of Biker Thailand in a community activity. Biker Thailand Members plane to be involved in other community in the future.

Cha-Am Beach Umbrella Upgrade

In accordance with the policy on zoning and remodeling the landscape of Cha-Am beaches, the Cha-Am Municipality has given beach umbrellas to the beach umbrella owners of Cha-Am beaches. The Cha-Am Mayor Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri chaired a ceremony to present the beach umbrellas to service providers at Cha-Am beaches. The event was attended by the municipal executives and staff, public officers, as well as beach umbrella owners.

The Mayor gave 7,000 beach umbrellas to more than 100 service providers. The umbrellas are all blue in colour with edges of different colours according to different zones where they will be located. This will help the authorities to monitor the beaches. The new owners were asked to change to the new umbrellas immediately.

International Soil Conference at Cha-Am The Land Development Department (LDD), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Thailand, in collaboration with International Union of Soil Sciences, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Institut de recherché pour le development, Asian Development Bank, Soil and Fertilizer Society of Thailand, Soil and Water Conservation Society of Thailand and Kasetsart University will organise the International Soil Conference on Sustainable Uses of Soil in Harmony with Food Security on 17th – 20th August, 2015 at Cha Am, Thailand. This conference is a part of activities to celebrate the International Year of Soils (IYS2015) as declared by the United Nations. The Conference sessions will be held at the facilities of the Regent Cha Am Beach Resort.

Keynote Speakers: Emeritus Prof. Dr. Stephen Nortcliff Secretary General of the International Union of Soil Sciences, and is now the chair of the IUSS Budget and Finance Committee Dr. Vili A. Fuavao Deputy Regional Representative, FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Prof. Dr. Christian Walter Professor, vice director of UMA SAS (The Joint Research Unit Soil, Agro- and Hydro-systems, spatialization)
