he Krewe of Terreanians will parade its 20 floats on Sunday, March 2, at 12:30 p.m., in Houma. The theme for this year is “A Walk in the Park.” It is the club’s 64th anniversary. In the fall of 1950, the Greater Houma Carnival Club was formed to bring the first night carnival parade to the City of Houma. Thousands of citizens from neighboring parishes came to witness this historic parade. The club continued to grow by purchasing its own floats and the property for a den. The Krewe of Terreanians is still a major parade thrilling the crowds that annually flock to Houma for the pageant. The 400 all-male krewe selected its name from the parish Terrebonne, which in French means “good earth.” King Terreanians LXIV is Kurt Cheramie and Queen Terreanians LXIV is Lindsay Marie Toups. The parade captain is John Poiencot; and Dane Ledet Jr. is ball captain.
