Professional Development Enrolled Agent Certificate Program NEW Hostos Community College will prepare you to pass the Enrolled Agent Examination. An Enrolled Agent is an authorized tax practitioner who has experience in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. They prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, essentially any entity required to file a tax return. As an Enrolled Agent you may also represent the entity that entrusted you in preparing the return to the IRS if audited. The test is divided into three parts that encompasses all parts of the federal tax code. The parts are as as follows: 1) Individuals, 2) Businesses, 3) Representation, Practices and Procedures Candidates must pass a background check by the IRS in order to finalize their status as an Enrolled Agent. Students will be able to identify the different taxes imposed by the government and appreciate some of the ethical guidelines involved in tax practice. This class will teach you how to prepare your own personal income tax returns. Analyze and journalize business transactions, prepare a trial balance, make year-end adjustments and produce financial statements. This class will teach you how to prepare your own personal income tax returns. T & Th 6:00pm to 9:00pm 1/7-1/28/14 CE6016-F01 21 hrs. 7 sessions $225 New York Tax Course Introduction to the current Income Tax Code and the Internal Revenue Serviceâ€™s role in taxation. Effect of both the Federal and New York Income Tax on individuals and their tax liability will be explained and discussed.
