Medical & Health Culinary Arts Certification Program NEW The Culinary Arts Skills Training is an introductory course designed to give students rudimentary skills and a practical working knowledge of the Food Service Industry. The course focuses on the many tiers of food preparation including; Cold Food Production, Knife Skills, Decoration, Sandwich and Soup making, recipe creation, Customer Service, Facility Maintenance, Health & Safety factors and a whole host of basic skill sets to help students gain employment and thrive within a growing industry. Restaurateurs, Corporate Food Service Providers and Catering Institutions all rely on skilled workforce as the backbone of their businesses. Within a professional operation setting, students will receive a blend of formal, demonstration classes and direct immersion (hands-on) training. Class sessions will be divided into two formats consisting of 88 hours including structured class time and “immersion hours” where students are required to work at a variety of active “stations” on a rotational basis. Included in the 103 hours is 15 hours of Food Protection Training that will result in the taking of the New York City Department of Health’s Food Protection exam. Students who successfully will enable students to attain entry-level positions as Professional Food Service Workers and provide the solid, foundational skills necessary to help them maintain and grow within the industry. Upon completion of the course students will have proficient knife handling skills, proper fundamental cooking technique, practical knowledge of professional food production, the ability to follow recipes and instructions, the ability to create new recipes and expand on basic culinary concepts, communication skills and the ability to work well as a team player, and a working knowledge of Health and Safety Codes. Dates and times to be determined CE2083-F01 105 hrs 21 sessions $1,200 Food Protection Certificate Program This course satisfies the Health Code requiring that supervisors of food service establishments and non-retail food service establishments be certified in food protection. Our program provides information on Food Protection and Safety and prepares the students to take the New York City Department of Health's Food Protection Certificate. Testing will be held at the City of New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, with the additional fee of $34.00. Saturdays Every other week based on registration CE2081-F01 15 hrs. 3 sessions 9:00am to 4:30pm $165 Programa Certificación de Protección de Alimentos Este curso cumple con el Código de Salud que requiere que los supervisores de los establecimientos de servicio de alimentos y establecimientos de servicios de alimentos público estén certificados en la protección de alimentos.
