New Zealand native Andrew Adamson started his career as a computer animator and joined Pacific Data Images (PDI) in 1991. PDI would merge with Dreamworks SKG and the SHREK series would set his career on a new path. Directing mega-hits SHREK and SHREK 2 gave him enough credentials to migrate over to live action film directing, steering THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series by writing, producing and directing the first two films. After being won over by Lloyd Jones' novel 'Mister Pip', he began chasing the film rights, quickly joining forces with producer Robin Scholes. MR. PIP is set during the 1990s civil war on Bougainville Island, in Papua
New Guinea — where Adamson lived as a teenager.
In celebration of a century of film in Hawaii, HIFF presents the classic film BLUE HAWAII on the big screen at Waikiki beach. The Sunset On The Beach screening is free and open to the public. Get prepared to sing-along to this timeless Elvis Presley film!
