Homeland Protection & Security The Future of Homeland Security is You! Start a new career or enhance your current career with courses specifically designed in Homeland Security. Homeland security is a dynamic and diverse career field. With an estimated 85 percent of this country’s critical infrastructure privately owned, businesses everywhere are in need of employees with education and training in homeland security. These courses were designed in response to the nation’s growing homeland security needs and issues. Learn how to formulate an all hazards emergency response plan that integrates the actions of the first responders and building/facility managers; plan hazardous communications processes; educate in the safety and environmental fields; and research the latest security technology.

Homeland Security has evolved to not only include concerns regarding terrorism, but also natural and man-made disasters, and emergency management. As an academic institution that houses programs addressing all facets of the first responder community that are affected by homeland security issues, the College is uniquely positioned to provide quality instruction and cuttingedge information to students enrolled in the program. What can you do with Homeland Security Program courses? The Homeland Security program will prepare students for the growing field of safety, security and emergency management. The demand for employees with knowledge and experience in security and emergency management fields is high and only increasing. Consequently, the employment prospects for students who successfully complete courses in Homeland Security are very good. Completers of the Homeland Security program courses will be prepared to work in a variety of settings and capacities such as private businesses, emergency management, safety management intelligence analysis, private security, airports, law enforcement, FBI, Secret Service, the DEA, Air Marshals, customs investigators, special agents, military service and border patrol.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional CISSP Certification was designed to recognize mastery of an international standard for information security and understanding of a Common Body of Knowledge (CBK). Certification can enhance a professional’s career and provide added IS credibility. This test preparation course covers the following ten CISSP information systems security test domains relevant to the corresponding professional certification exam: access control systems and methodology; applications and systems development; business continuity planning; cryptography; law, investigation

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (cont.) and ethics; operations security; physical security; security architecture and models; security management practices; and telecommunications, network and internet security. Completion of this course better positions participants to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). This certification is one of the requirements of the DoD 8570 directive. Prerequisites: Significant IT security experience and prior certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE or SCNP are recommended. Hazwoper 24-Hour Supervisor Training This course covers broad issues pertaining to the hazard recognition at work sites. OSHA has developed the HAZWOPER program to protect the workers working at hazardous sites and devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. This course, while identifying different types of hazards, also suggests possible precautions and protective measures to reduce or eliminate hazards at the work place.
