Hiking in Scandinavia

In the spring of 1732, Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus, who is credited with establishing the binomial genus/species naming system we use today, set out on a journey to Lappland in northern Sweden and Nordland in Norway. Join Gustavus Professor of Scandinavian Studies Roland Thorstensson and two graduates now living in Uppsala, Sweden—Daniel Lundberg ’98 and Julia Paraskova ’99—July 20–Aug. 2, 2008, to trek the areas Linnaeus visited and wrote about in his journals. For brochure and more information, contact Roland Thorstensson at rollo@gustavus.edu or 507-933-7423. This trip is designed to fit the capabilities of people of sound health and reasonably good physical condition. Photo by Anders Björling ’58
