23 ASHLEE ANDERSON 5-9 ■ Senior (RS) ■ Guard Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young Magnet

ABOUT ASHLEE • Nicknamed Snaxs in high school by her coach’s husband. She would bring her lunch to practice every day and eat any food she had left after practice ended. Eventually her entire school, teammates, friends, peers and parents began calling her “Snaxs” and it soon became her new identity. • Ashlee’s grandmother used to refer to her as “Baby Rodman”, because her playing skills reminded her of NBA star Dennis Rodman. • Sister, Alexandria, runs track professionally for Nike. She was a 17-time All-American at University of Texas. Also a three-time Big 12 Champion (Indoor 60-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, Outdoor 100-meter dash) and 19-time All-Big 12. • Ashlee broke her finger prior to the 2009-10 season and in doing so found out, she only has one tendon in her pinky. Each finger – normally – has two flexor tendons (then thumb has one). This is an extremely rare condition. • Her great grandmother, Mary Coley, is in the National Smithsonian for all her duties and accomplishments as a midwife in Georgia and surrounding areas. • Her great aunt, June Jackson, was White House organist/ pianist for the White House. • Studied abroad in London during the summer of 2012. • Active member of the Pitt SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Council). • Earned her undergraduate degree in communications and is pursuing a second degree in media and professional communications.
