THE STORYLINE Chris Jones is back for his second year at Pitt after redshirting the 2012-13 season. A 6-foot-6 multi-dimensional shooting guard who can also slide over and play small forward, Chris Jones was one of the top players in the state of New Jersey in 2012. He brings elite size, athleticism, strength and ability to the shooting guard position. Jones has been described as a natural leader and a consistent shooter, who also possesses game-changing athleticism and slashing ability. He brings a unique versatility on defense with his ability to guard all three perimeter positions. His game is expected to transition smoothly to the collegiate level because of his high basketball IQ and ability to make his

teammates better. A premier offensive player, his strengths are his ability to hit jumpers off the dribble and adeptness at creating his own shot. Jones is a proven winner who excels not only on the court, but off it as well. A late signee, Jones signed in April, 2012.

Basketball Player of the Year as a senior…First Team All-Bergen County (N.J.) and All-Big North Conference First Team selection… Led Teaneck to a 31-1 record as a senior and 59 wins in its final 63 career games…Led the Highwaymen to a 31-game win streak as a senior and 28-game win streak as a junior…Concluded his high school career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,319 points…Averaged 21.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a senior… Also hit 39 3-pointers on the year… Finished year with 16 20-point games including a string of eight consecutive 20-plus point contests…Scored a season-high 27 points two times (vs. Bergen Tech and Hackensack)… Scored a game-high 23 points in the 34th annual North/South All-Star Classic, which showcased the best basketball players in the state of New Jersey…Led Teaneck to back-to-back Bergen County Jamboree titles and back-to-back North 1, Group 3 championships…Led Teaneck to its first ever victory against St. Patrick in the New Year’s Jump Off as a senior… Scored 22 points and added 10 rebounds and six steals in the momentum-building victory…Posted a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds in his senior season opener… Lost to Plainfield (N.J.) in the state semifinals for the second straight year…Earned All-Bergen County First Team, ESPN-HS New Jersey All-State

Fourth Team and First Team All-Big North Conference honors after averaging 16 points per game as a junior…Led Teaneck to a 27-4 record…Teaneck eventually fell to Plainfield (N.J.) in the NJSIAA Group 3 semifinal during his junior season… Played for the New Jersey Playaz AAU team under coaches Jerome Smart and Jim Salmon...Pitt assistant coach and former Pitt player Brandin Knight is a former Playaz player.

PERSONAL Born Christopher Jones on February 22, 1994...Son of Kenneth and Patricia Jones...Has one brother, Jon… Committed to Pitt on February 27, 2012, only a few days after receiving his scholarship offer…Committed to Pitt saying “it’s a great school with a great coach” and that he has a “great” relationship with assistant coach Brandin Knight…Also said that he enjoyed the “family atmosphere”… Known as a role model to other students for his hard work, leadership and dedication on the court and in the classroom…Honor Roll student… Selected Pitt over La Salle, Rhode Island, Boston U., Colorado, Siena and Nebraska…Also had interest from Connecticut, Virginia Tech and Seton Hall…Expects to major in business... Enrolled in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences.
