Pink Zone at PSU Fast Facts

Penn State has donated more than $165,000 for breast cancer research and awareness combined in the first four events. Last season, the Lady Lions donated $80,339.08 to four breast cancer charities. The Lady Lions became the first Division I team in the country to wear pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness when they wore them against Wisconsin on Feb. 4, 2007. WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State fundraising efforts benefit Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Penn State’s 2007 Pink Zone Day won the Big Ten’s Best Women’s Basketball Promotion award in 2006-07. The Lady Lions’ Pink Zone opponents include Wisconsin (2006-07), Iowa (2007-08, 2008-09) and Illinois (2009-10). Penn State finished second in the inaugural WBCA Pink Zone Challenge with more than $32,000 raised in 2008-09. The Lady Lions had a record number of survivors and a record fundraising effort for the 2010 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State.
