The America of 1887, when Gonzaga College first admitted students, was far different from the nation in which we now live.The president was Grover Cleveland; Congress was concerned with monopolistic practices of the railroad; Georgia O’Keefe, famous painter of the American West, was born that year; and the mass-produced automobile was still a decade away. Yet across the years and successive historical events, each generation of Gonzaga students, from that first class on, has shared formative relationships with people of real significance. Be they Jesuits,lay faculty and staff, or fellow students – the people and their relationships defined and continue to create what we know as the distinctive Gonzaga Experience.
