En 1966 un grupo de vanguardistas traen a Colombia lo mejor del teatro experimental, y qué mejor escenario que el centro cultural bogotano por excelencia, La Candelaria. Famoso por la introducción de la modernidad en la dramaturgia nacional y la apertura de la misma a todo tipo de público, este lugar es símbolo de la cultura nacional por mantener el espíritu de experimentación artística como filosofía.
In 1966 a forward-thinking group brought the best of experimental theater to Colombia, and to what better stage than the Bogotá cultural center for excellence, La Candelaria. Famous for the introduction of modernity in national drama and opening it up to all audiences, this place is a symbol of national culture in maintaining the spirit of artistic experimentation as its philosophy.

Es el lugar de proyección de cine más antiguo de la ciudad. Su arquitectura tiene influencia italiana conocida como art Nouveau. Esta obra, diseñada por Arturo Tapias y Jorge Muñoz proyectó por primera vez, según los expertos, un largometraje colombiano llamado Las huerfanitas, convirtiéndose así en uno de los centros culturales más importantes de la ciudad que a su vez abrió paso a la cultura. En 2004 la Universidad Central lo adquiere para restaurarlo y darle vida de nuevo.
This is the oldest cinema in the city and has an Italian architectural influence known as Art Nouveau. It was designed by Arturo Tapias and Jorge Muñoz and projected for the first time according to experts, a Colombian film called Las huerfanitas (The orphans) and thus became the most important cultural center of the city which in turn opened the door to culture. In 2004 the Universidad Central acquired it to restore it and give it new life.

Fundado en 1980 por Jaime Manzur, el maestro de las marionetas en Colombia, este teatro es famoso por dar vida a personajes (muñecos de madera) que miden aproximadamente 70 centímetros, que pesan entre una libra y un kilo, y que recrean obras teatrales dedicadas especialmente a niños entre los ocho y dieciséis años de edad. En el vestíbulo hay una curiosa exhibición de marionetas, vestuario y utilería, provenientes de diversos lugares del mundo. Para ver esta colección en horarios distintos a las funciones, es necesario hacer previa reserva.
Created in 1980 by Jaime Manzur, the puppet master of Colombia, this theatre became famous for giving life to wooden characters, which are about 70 centimeter tall and weigh between a pound and a kilo. Those puppets revive theatrical plays specially dedicated to a young audience from eight to sixteen years old. In the foyer you can find a curious exhibition of puppets, clothing and props, coming from all over the word. To see the collection outside of the performance hours, please book a tour.
