Sun belt scheduling format
The Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will have a new look in March, 2007, as will the East and West Divisions with the addition of Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Monroe as full-time members to bring the total number of SBC teams playing men’s basketball to 13. The realigned East Division is comprised of Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, South Alabama, Troy, and Western Kentucky. The West includes Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Denver, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, New Orleans, and North Texas. There also will be an adjusted format for the conference tournament beginning in 2007. Each divisional winner will receive a bye into the quarterfinals of the conference tournament along with the team with the next best conference record regardless of division. The first round of the tournament will be played at campus sites with the higher seed hosting the lower seed. The winners of these five on-campus games will advance to join the top three seeds at a common site where the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will be held.
