fulfiling projects such as building low cost housing for the homeless, caring for the aged, and creating leisure activities for young people. Initiatives for business and job creation would be fostered with innovation and creativity. Several pilot schemes incorporating these suggestions are already under way. LET US SEARCH through our history books for women who have enslaved weak nations, murdered helpless people and invented weapons of mass destruction. With men seemingly to be more bestial than women, one might well come to a conclusion. If God is love, and to be sure it is true, then God is more likely to be feminine than masculine. Whoever is ‘in command’ of our destiny in the coming millennium, it is safe to prophesise that women will be taking a leading role in the evolution of the human spirit. Surprisingly, it is the science of Ecology which brings this to light, because the inter-relationship of all living creatures includes caring and respect. This implies that justice and compassion should be extended to the more vulnerable creatures on the planet, and women show a marked sensitivity in this area. There is a strong movement under the name of Ecofeminism, whose members are all concerned with the environment. They are most determined not to be swayed by commercial interests, and are dominant in lobbying their members of parliament, particularly on green issues and when cruelty to animals is involved. Compassion in World Farming, largely organised by women, carries considerable weight in European circles on animal rights issues. It is highly respected, and has been responsible for improving animal welfare, and helping to eliminate cruel factory farming practices. But there is a another aspect to ecology which involves the discordant relationships between different races and tribes of the human species. If the custodians of the earth are themselves in disarray, the future of the world could be in jeopardy, therefore peaceful trends between countries and
