THE OPEN HOUSE PROJECT The Open House Project is a ground breaking three year cultural partnership (2012 – 2015) between the Glasshouse, Port Macquarie and Sydney Opera House. The first of its kind in Australia, the Project’s purpose is to deepen cultural engagement, broaden educational reach and learning, and forge new experiences and connections between two great creative hubs in NSW. The Open House Project will bring acclaimed productions from the Sydney Opera House to the Glasshouse, providing cultural experiences previously only available to metropolitan audiences.

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU Across the year up to 20 Sydney Opera House programs and performances will transfer from the stages of the Sydney Opera House direct to the Glasshouse, kicking off with family favourite Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition appearing on stage at the Glasshouse on 3-4 January 2012. The 2012 program will also include international headline acts from the Just for Laughs and Vivid LIVE festivals.

For the first time ever an audience outside of the Sydney Opera House will see live digital feeds from the Festival of Dangerous Ideas and the Ideas at the House talks series. Sit back with a glass of wine in your Glasshouse and join in these exclusive events happening on stage at the Sydney Opera House! We have also secured a line up of amazing musical performers coming from the Sydney Opera House Utzon Music Series. Coming to perform live on stage will be artists from the Australian Chamber Orchestra in Satu & Friends, the world’s pre-eminent dramatic soprano Deborah Voight and one of this generation’s leading pianists from London, Paul Lewis. As these events are finalised, Glasshouse subscribers will be the first to know when these shows go on sale – and of course will get special offers and great deals! Another great reason to subscribe.

‘all the world may be a stage’ but not everyone is a star.

Joe Bleakley is a ‘retired’ actor who reached for the stars but never got much further than mediocrity. Recently arrived in the Foggadieu Retirement Village, Joe decides that he will stage a performance for the other residents and puts together a selection of his favourite speeches from some of the great roles he never got to play. Throughout the course of this one-man show, you will be treated to excerpts from King Lear, Teahouse of the August Moon, and nuggets of wisdom from Neil Simon, Eugene O’Neill and Oscar Hammerstein II. In between we learn of Joe’s troubled relationship with his daughter, his two failed marriages and his disappointment at never having quite ‘made it’ as an actor. All peppered with humorous anecdotes, jokes, songs and observations about life, family and getting older.

DIVING FOR PEARLS

Diving for Pearls is the story of working-class couple, Barbara and Den. In love and facing the challenges and responsibilities of middle-age, they gamely confront pressing issues in their personal and working lives as their small coastal town transforms itself from an old industrial town to a brave new world of resorts and plush hotels. In the midst of a shifting industrial landscape, with its buzz words of ‘restructuring’, ‘redeployment’ and ‘redundancy’, Barbara and Den are desperately trying to carve out decent lives for themselves. At times confronting, this play is balanced with trademark Aussie humour that springs from people facing difficult circumstances and trying to forge a path to a better future. This is a uniquely Australian story about the shifting landscape of our coastal towns and a reminder of how lucky we are to live in Port Macquarie. “... Don’t be late... Make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes before a theatre show. Latecomers will not be permitted into the theatre until there is a suitable break in the performance.

Making it easier for you... There is a drop-off zone located adjacent to the Glasshouse forecourt on the corner of Clarence & Hay Streets to make it easier for elderly or mobility impaired patrons to access the Glasshouse. If you require wheelchair seating or have other specific requirements, please indicate this on your Season booking form – or call the Glasshouse Box Office.

For crying out loud... If your little one is noisy, there is a crying room provided in the dress circle where you can see the performance and sound is provided via audio relay. If you would like to be seated near the crying room, please indicate this on the booking form.

Mobiles, cameras & recording equipment... Due to copyright requirements photography or recording of any kind is not permitted in the theatre…and remember to PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONE as you enter the theatre.

Stay in touch... The Glasshouse is always adding great new shows and events throughout the year. Keep in touch with us via www.glasshouse.org.au, subscribe to our enewsletter or ‘like’ us on facebook to keep up-to-date with latest news and special offers. www.glasshouse.org.au www.facebook.com/glasshousepmq

WHY SUBSCRIBE? SAVE MONEY

SWAP YOUR SHOW

Subscribers save 12% — it’s that simple!

Subscribers can plan ahead, so fill your diary with great theatre nights, knowing that if something comes up you can swap your tickets for another performance of the same production at no added cost. Our shows are so popular we can only do that for you up to two working days prior to the performance and only if seats are still available.

Every show you subscribe to, you save money! This year the savings get even better as we offer you subscriber price tickets to more shows than ever before. Once you have picked six or more subscription shows, you can choose to buy tickets to our premium bonus shows at a subscriber price. Saving money is great!

SELECT YOUR SEATS Subscribers get a priority booking period. If you buy a subscription you can select your favourite seat before tickets for individual shows go on sale to the public. The earlier you book your subscription the more seats you have to choose from! Want to sit with friends? No problem — just return your booking forms stapled together and we can allocate seats next to each other.

SECURE YOUR TICKETS Subscribers are offered first chance to buy tickets to shows so you know you have your seats secure. When one of our shows sell out and everyone else is scrambling for tickets you have your seats safely tucked away!

STAY IN TOUCH As a subscriber you find out about things first so you are always upto-date on what is happening at the Glasshouse. If special offers come our way we make sure our subscribers find out first!

SAVE YOURSELF THOSE SILLY MOMENTS We all have moments where we cannot find the house keys! If you are a subscriber and lose your tickets we will reprint them for you for free. Proof of identity is required so don’t lose your licence as well — we cannot help you with that! ... not interested in subscribing? On 4 January 2012 all shows will be available to the public to buy single tickets for individual shows at General Public prices.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE It is so easy — you just choose SIX OR MORE of the Season 2012 Subscription shows to become a subscriber. Once you have done that you can add any of the Premium Season shows or Bonus Season shows that you want... ... More shows = more choices = more options for you to see what you want! If you are not ready to buy these great additional shows straight away, that’s OK. We value you as a subscriber and you can access the subscriber prices for the additional Premium and Bonus shows at any time during the year, assuming tickets are available. Just don’t leave it too long or your favourite seat might be gone or it might sell out! If you want to subscribe, just tear out the form at the back of this booklet, choose your shows and your payment method and send it back to us. If you are an existing subscriber we are delighted to give you a priority booking period from 23 November 2011 – 11 December 2012. If you are not a subscriber but would like to get the great advantages and special prices subscribers get we are able to welcome you as a Glasshouse subscriber and take your completed forms from 12 December 2011 onwards. If you only want tickets to single shows you can still book tickets to any of the great shows listed in this brochure from 4 January 2012 onwards, at General Public prices.
