ALWAYS EVOLVE Kelli Emmett’s evolution as an off-road rider parallels the evolution of mountain biking itself over the last decade. She spent the first half of her career chasing XC titles, following the typical routine: train hard, put in the miles, focus on the finish line. Somewhere along the way, Kelli branched out. In 2007 she won the Singlespeed World Championship and around the same time started dabbling in Super D. Combining XC fitness with trail skills, courage and speed, Super D was perfect for the trail bikes she loved to ride on the Colourado trails near her home. She rode Trance X, Anthem X, whatever would help her go fast. Kelli soon became instrumental in the development of women’s off-road bikes. Her latest project is the new Liv/giant Anthem X 29er W, the world’s first women’s-specific full-suspension 29er. Kelli worked with the Liv/giant product team to create the bike, which is well suited to her wide range of riding styles. “I love it because it has all the benefits of the larger 29-inch wheels plus a lot of design work that makes it perfect for women riders like me,” Kelli said. “It’s something we’ve never had before. It’s faster, but it’s also more fun.” Pushing the sport forward. Evolving. Having fun. All the reasons Kelli Emmett rides.
