[Photo 12] This wall shows the effects of using an-incorrect mortar mix. Using too much Portland cement in the mortar helped to create a framework that was too rigid for the soft 19thcentury bricks. During the freeze/thaw cycle, the bricks expanded and were seriously damaged while the mortar remained intact.
