At UNSW, you will directly enroll into its normal courses alongside Austrlian and other international students. UNSW maintains housing for study abroad students that are located off the campus, but which are also close to some of the city's many beaches. Its main campus is located in a prime area of the city with access to the spectacular harbor and beaches, beautiful botanical gardens and parks, museums, cinemas, and theaters. Participants have the opportunity to enroll in regular university classes at the University of Sydney. Prior to departure, participants select three courses available to study abroad students at the University of Sydney. All instruction is by the University of Sidney faculty. The academic year consists of two 14-week teaching semesters, followed by 2-3 weeks of exams. Typically, the semesters run from mid-February through June (spring semester) and mid-July through November (fall semester). Fields of study include area studies, liberal arts, and social sciences. University of New South Wales Internship Program Country: Australia Location: Sydney Campus: SUNY Plattsburgh Term(s): Fall, Spring Language of Instruction: English Program Description: For ten years, UNSW Study Abroad has managed an internship program to expose students from abroad to real life professional work practices central to their studies. Internships are not just ‘work experience’. Some prior academic background knowledge is required to be eligible for an internship placement. Academic coordinators will assess the standing of applications. The internships are carefully planned programs of theoretical study, supervised by an academic coordinator and culminating in a written research project, combined with specific tasks monitored by a supervisor in the workplace. Students are assessed on the basis of satisfactory workplace performance, a journal, a final research project, and an exit report. Academic credit equivalent to one or two courses is given, subject to whether students participate in placements for two, three or four days per week over an 8-12 week period. Internship programs are available to UNSW Study Abroad students in Marketing, Political Science, Social Science and Policy, Media Studies, Banking and Finance, Criminal Justice and Biological/Environmental Sciences. Please note that in addition to the internship, you may need to take a other courses in order to be a full-time student per Australian immigration regulations.
