Participants take three courses for a total of 9 credits. The courses cover a wide range of subjects pertaining to international issues, with a particular emphasis on the East Asian region, including history, culture, society, politics, economics, law, business management, science and art/design. Dongguk University Summer School Country: Korea Location: Seoul Campus: Stony Brook University Term(s): Summer Language of Instruction: English Program Description: Dongguk International Summer School(DISS) offers a unique opportunity for students to share knowledge with world-class scholars, and learn about Korea throughout its historical and cultural excursions. This program has become a bridge between East and West by covering a wide range of academic subjects, such as “Global Economy and Business”, “Eastern and Western Cultures” and “Science and Engineering”. Academic credits or certificate will be properly given to the students. If students are looking for gaining extra credits or broadening their knowledge, we believe that they will get an outstanding experience at Dongguk International Summer School in the heart of Seoul. University of Seoul Summer School Country: Korea Location: Seoul Campus: Stony Brook University Term(s): Summer Language of Instruction: English, Korean Program Description: Offer courses ranging from Korean Language to International Studies as well as Korea's famous attractions. Korean Cultural Studies Country: Korea Location: Seoul Campus: SUNY Geneseo Term(s): Summer Language of Instruction: English Program Description: This program, at Sogang University in Seoul, lasts six weeks from mid-June until the end of July. It includes one three-day field trip, as well as many other extracurricular activities. Courses in Traditional Korea, Modern Korea, the Korean Economy, and intensive language classes at beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels are offered. Special lectures on North Korea are also available. All instruction (except for language classes) is in English. Sogang is one of Korea’s most prestigious universities, with an enviable reputation as a dynamic center of academic excellence. The summer school attracts not only students from around the world but also Korean students. Its campus is both compact and student-friendly, and is situated in a very safe area of Seoul, close to other great Korean universities. MADAGASCAR Summer in Madagascar Country: Madagascar Location: Ranomafana National Park Campus: Stony Brook University Term(s): Summer Language of Instruction: English Program Description: A two-day intensive orientation on the Stony Brook campus, then travel to Madagascar's Ranomafana National Park. Courses taught by Stony Brook University and host country faculty. Field courses include: Biodiversity Science Field Methods, Madagascar Ecosystems, and Primate Behavior and Ecology. In addition, independent research in the tropical rainforest is supervised by international faculty conducting research on site. 125
