Aims High

At Ashby School, students of all abilities are encouraged to strive to reach their full potential. To help them achieve this, students are taught in modern, well-resourced classrooms with access to the latest interactive technologies, including the school’s immersive learning hub. To boost students’ confidence and performance across the curriculum, a programme of after-school study sessions runs throughout the year in all subjects. There is additional tuition in the run-up to examinations for those students who need a little extra help. Students are expected to uphold the school’s high standards of behaviour and attendance and to adhere to the uniform policy. As part of the school’s code of conduct, all students must be honest, hard working, courteous, fair and respectful.

Thank you for all the advice and guidance and emotional reassurance you have given to my daughter over the last four years. Without your support, school could have turned out very differently for her. Parent

Cares & Nurtures We realise that students are more likely to flourish in a caring and supportive environment. The job of ensuring students’ welfare and progress begins even before they arrive at Ashby School. We work closely with local high schools to ensure a smooth transition to Year 10 for all students. The school also values its strong partnership with parents. They are kept informed of their child’s progress by regular reports, parents’ evenings, the parent portal (‘My Child at School’), as well as the school website, termly newsletters, text messages and emails.

Throughout their time at Ashby, each student is a member of a form group and belongs to one of eight Houses. Form Tutors and House Managers monitor the personal and academic development of every student, providing support and direction when it is most needed. House Managers are supported by a dedicated team of Year Tutors who advise students on issues such as health, attendance and behaviour. The House system helps to create a valuable sense of community and is a focus for whole-school activities such as sporting competitions and charity fundraising.

The standard of the students’ work is exceptional. Credit must also go to the staff at Ashby School for the quality of their teaching and their enthusiastic support. Rotary Club design competition judge

Our aim is to ensure that all students leave Ashby School as confident and capable young people, ready to face the challenges of a fast-paced and complex world. Teachers work alongside experienced careers advisors to help students decide on, and plan for, the next stage of their journey, whether in higher education, an apprenticeship or the workplace. The school boasts a long list of successful alumni, a number of whom return to school regularly to share their experiences and to inspire our present students to go out into the world and achieve their goals.

Thank you so much for my Christmas present. It was a lovely surprise. It is so nice that young people at school still spare a thought for us older people and the local community. Member of the community
