MIECZYSŁAWA NOWOTNIAK COLLABORATION OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS IN WARSAW WITH UNIVERSITIES AND EMPLOYERS
Information and promotion campaigns regarding vocational education The Education Department of the Capital City of Warsaw Municipal Office has taken part in the organisation of the Warsaw Salon of Final Secondary School Examination Candidates and the Educational Fair, which featured a series of debates, for example Study Wisely and Choose Wisely, as well as the conferences Vocational Education Development Prospects in Warsaw and Development Trends in Vocational and Continuing Education. Other information and promotion activities have included: • the development and publication of a guide entitled Technika i zasadnicze szkoły zawodowe na europejskim poziomie [Technical Secondary and Basic Vocational Schools of European Standard] in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011; the guides were distributed free of charge to all public and non-public lower-secondary schools in Warsaw and the neighbouring municipalities; • the creation of a web portal entitled Warszawski Barometr Zawodowy [The Warsaw Professional Barometer]; • the organisation of vocational school meetings with lower-secondaryschool students; • counselling by career advisors during the Educational Fair in Miasteczko Zawodów [The Professions and Occupations Fair] and in the Warsaw districts of Wola, Bemowo, Bielany, Praga Południe and Śródmieście (since 2008).
Modernising vocational education Vocational education that meets the needs of the labour market is related to the modernisation of technical and learning/teaching facilities and this, in turn, results in growing expenditure.
