The Conservative Voice By Barbara J. Carlson

Strike 2—The Empty Chair Reappears Even the Libs are outraged with Obama’s lackluster performance during the first presidential debate last week. After Debbie Wasserman Schultz tweeted about Obama’s dismal performance and Chris Matthews didn’t receive a “thrill up his leg,” whining, “Where was Obama tonight?” the Democratic Party should grasp that their candidate, well, isn’t quite the great debater they once portrayed him to be. And so the rhetoric began with Juan Williams that “he thinks the debate was a draw… or something like that,” while Obama claimed that we were not really watching “the real Romney,” while Gore blamed Obama’s pathetic debacle on Denver’s altitude and arriving to Denver at 2:00 p.m. Maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t Romney up there in front of 60M+ people and it “was George Bush,” right? Will these guys ever give up and realize how foolish they sound? Way back in August I explained how the Republican Party will win this election: By leading with the highest, unwavering ethics—beginning with our leadership—and holding the Democrats’ feet to the fire, that we stay focused and that no matter what questions are posed to Romney or Ryan during the debates, the answers have to expose the financial destruction that has been hurled on us, the unconstitutional moratorium and Executive Orders that have been issued and permits denied—the worst in our nation’s history. It is crucial that we have a clear, succinct message, reminding the voters that jobs have been taken away, our defense is dangerously low, entitlements are destroying our great country, all while we handed Solyndra $528M in failed stimulus loans without any accountability. Romney followed through, executing perfectly. While some were quick to criticize Jim Lehrer’s lack of

controlling the debate, one can argue that it was a brilliant strategy. The world witnessed firsthand that Lehrer wasn’t going to be the pawn and save this unprepared leader of the free world who pranced in front of the camera. The safe cushion was finally removed. The longer Obama spoke, the more foolish, unprepared and gross underestimation of Romney’s finesse and excellent leadership experience became evident. As Conservatives across the country have explained for far too long, “Once the big O doesn’t have his teleprompter safety net, he is not the articulate speaker he has fooled so many into believing.” One can only surmise the lecture Obama received after he slithered off the stage—even before Jim Lehrer arrived on stage—long before Romney, the underdog, departed. To make matters worse, Obama didn’t have anyone come on stage while Romney’s family was there right by his side to proudly greet him after a historic victory. One may further ponder, “Was the big O doodling on his paper when there was no need to be note taking after Romney spoke? And it certainly didn’t hurt that the big O had to look up to the presidential-looking 6’2” figure across from him, standing taller than Obama’s 6’1” stature while catching Obama’s buckled knees behind the podium. “Altitude,” you say? That is the Lib’s argument? So then why hasn’t Denver’s altitude affected the big O before? Why didn’t altitude and jet lag affect Obama when he’s vacationed to Yellowstone (5,282-8,000 feet) or visited Yosemite (4,000-8,000 feet) or Mauna Kea (13,796 feet and as high as Mount Rainier) or Nu’uanu Pali (1,200 feet)? How can we forget Obama’s costly 2011 spring break visit to Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado Mountain overlooking Rio (2,329 feet)? A bit puzzling, perhaps? OUR SERVICES:

When legend and reality blend, folklore is born…

When legend and reality blend, folklore is born… Here at Nizam's Kitchen, we bring you the best cuisine from two of the most vibrant cities in South Asia -- Hyderabadi in India and Karachi in Pakistan. Influenced by the Turks, the Arabs and the Mughals, Hyderabadi cuisine boasts of biryani, haleem, mughlai and tandoori specialities that are reminiscent of the lavish entertainment by the aristocrats. Hyderabadi Biryani is known the world over for its fulsome flavors that will titillate your palate long after you have relished the dish. The fresh spices and herbs complement the slow cooking method, better known as Dum Pukht. Each of the spices is slow roasted to gently coax it to release all its flavors. A layer of dough is used to seal the rice in and the heavy

round pot is placed over a slow fire to allow the biryani to dum (breathe) and pukht (cook). This is what distinguishes Hyderabadi cuisine and sets it apart. Pakistani cuisine is renowned for its piquant flavors. Preferences vary from region to region, and are dictated in part by the availability of local produce, but in Karachi one can find not only delicacies from all over Pakistan, but from around the world. Anyone who has ever visited Karachi will testify to the city's diverse culinary delights. Pakistani restaurants in every major city of the world named after famous restaurants and food stalls in Karachi is testimony to the reverence reserved for cuisine from this region. Combining the best of both these exotic cities, at Nizam's Kitchen, you will be treated like royalty when you step in here. We will surely look the other way if you are tempted to lick your lips in anticipation when the aromas come wafting through and your mouth begins to water. Can one hardly wait for the upcoming October 16t presidential debate when Romney needs to attack with all force on Obama’s fiasco in Benghazi? Never has a sitting president held the FBI for over three weeks (in Tripoli) and then sent the FBI to a war crime scene for a mere three hours to conduct forensic evidence in order to avoid the press and Congress. Again, I ask, where is our Congress? This presidential leadership is deplorable and this Congress should have begun impeachment measures long ago. If the impeachment process

wasn’t started in the House when the oil moratorium was executed, then it should have begun when this president took us into Libya. So, did Romney clean house with the Obama amateur hour? Well, if CNN’s poll is accurate with a historic 67% win for Romney and that 56% have changed their view of Romney for the better, one can only thank Hollywood’s legend, Clint Eastwood, for his “empty chair” skit at the RNC as an accurate preview of Obama’s comedy show the world witnessed and why we need a drastic change in leadership.

Did Romney show a down-toearth human moment? It brought a smile to my face as Romney walked over to collect his notes from the podium after the debate. If Romney continues on this path that he has so eloquently carved out, he could become our next Ronald Reagan and turn our country around on a path that so many have given up on. October 11th can’t come fast enough for the unafraid Ryan to take the stage and slaughter his opponent, the other empty chair. For comments, contact Barbara J. Methodist Sugar Land Hospital now has new residency program in physical therapy Methodist Sugar Land Hospital’s (MSLH) new orthopedic physical therapy residency program – one of just three in the state of Texas – has recently been credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association. Led by the board-certified physical therapists at Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas (MOST), the program gives new physical therapists an opportunity to advance their clinical orthopedic skills while working and studying for 12 months alongside the MOST staff. “We have the only accredited program in Texas that is not affiliated with a university or academic medical center,” said Sean Croft, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “This is a tremendous achievement, and it is a testament to the skills, knowledge and experience of our physical therapy staff at MSLH and MOST.” The new program puts Methodist Sugar Land Hospital in a select group of prestigious organizations nationwide that offer PT residency, including

New York University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Cedars-Sinai, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Ohio State University, University of Southern California and Kaiser Permanente. In addition to helping develop the next generation of physical

therapists, the residency program is designed to benefit MOST patients by adding to available staff and assisting in the sharing of ideas and best practices. To schedule an appointment, please call 281-201-0405 or for more information, visit MethodistSugarLand.com.

Visitors to fill Constellation Field during baseball offseason Concerts and other events will keep the seats filled at Constellation Field, where attendance records were smashed during the Skeeters' inaugural baseball season. Featuring a state-of-theart staging system in center field and extra seating on the field, the first two concerts at Constellation Field will feature REO Speedwagon and Night Ranger on Oct. 19 and ZZ Top and Kenny Wayne Shepherd on Oct. 20. Produced by ACE Live as a part of a multi-year agreement, the two concerts are the beginning of a series of shows that will be presented at the stadium. "Constellation Field and its location in Sugar Land offer a great opportunity to bring major shows to a great venue that is much closer to where so many citizens in this growing sector of Houston live," said ACE CEO David Anderson. "We think the response will be tremendous." Full concessions services and free parking will be available at the stadium. Other upcoming events include the Southland Conference Baseball Tournament from May 22-25, 2013. Sugar Land's Constellation Field is expected to easily surpass the City's conservative revenue projections. Funded with a portion of sales

tax revenues that may only be used for economic development purposes, the $36 million 7,500-seat stadium is a yearround community amenity that will include baseball, concerts, community events and more. The stadium is also an economic asset expected to support the regional economy through direct revenue from the stadium, as well as hotels, restaurants and other retail establishments. A feasibility study performed in 2009 projected average attendance of 3,314 per game or 300,000 annually. Using this benchmark study data, City planners forecast an annual benefit to the City of $7.7 million or a return of $169 million to our economy over 30 years. Actual figures for the first season showed an average attendance of 6,751 per game or a total of more than 460,000. Attendance figures for Constellation Field have broken all records for the Independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. When compared to minor league teams affiliated with Major League Baseball, Sugar Land ranks third in Texas behind the Triple A Round Rock Express and Double A Frisco Roughriders. In a national comparison of all professional minor league baseball teams, both affiliated and independent, Sugar Land's average game

attendance is in the top 25. More information about the upcoming concerts at Constellation Field is available at www.shopsugarland.com.
