Fort Bend ISD 2014-2015 pre-kindergarten registration set

AHS Science Olympiad Team Lake Olympia Garden Club's headed to state competition again annual garden tour is May 3  Austin High School’s Science Olympiad Teams took 1st and 3rd places at the Lone Star College-CyFairGulf Coast Regional Science Olympiad on Saturday, March 29th, 2014. But unfortunately, only one team from each school can advance to the state competition to be held May 2-3 at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic competitions balanced between the various science and engineering disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. There is also a balance between events requiring knowledge of facts, concepts, processes, skills and science applications. But beyond the technical knowledge needed to participate in Science Olympiad, participants works on teams and must learn important life skills such as team work, cooperation and creative problem solving. The Austin teams took 1st or 2nd place in 14 of the events. Matt Wilson, the sponsor of the AHS team, had this to say

about the event, “I’m so proud to be a part of this year’s team. They’ve been preparing since last August when they started seeking out corporate sponsors such as Clariant and BP (British Petroleum). We have some of the most highly motivated and enthusiastic young adults I have ever had the opportunity to work with. This will be a tremendous learning experience for us.”

Shown are the AHS Science Olympiad Teams.
