All in; all done: Rosenberg has a new police chief; he was appointed by Council Monday night, and his name is Dallis Warren. Chief Warren began his career with the Rosenberg Police Department in 1979 working all aspects of law enforcement and promoting up through the ranks to Assistant Chief in 2002. Since becoming Assistant Chief, Warren was second in command to chief to Robert Gracia, who, late last year resigned to become the City Manager. Although Warren has been with the city his entire career, becoming chief allows him to bring his ideas and visions along with new opportunity to a department that has been under the same regime for over 20 years. Restaurant Etiquette - Choosing the Wine If you don’t know a lot about wines and price is a consideration, ask the wine steward for assistance. Remember that they often work on commission and are likely to suggest a rather expensive wine if no guidelines are given. If no prices are listed and price is a factor, ask about the house wine and the wine steward will build from there. If prices are listed, discretely point to a wine on the menu within your price range and ask about that wine. It will give them a starting point for other suggestions within that range as well. What if you order a wine and don’t like it or it has an off taste or smell? Is it okay to ask to make a different choice without being charged for the undesirable wine? If the steward suggested the wine

and did not offer a taste before choosing, then absolutely! If it was tasted before choosing, then not so much. If you requested a specific wine and it obviously had an off taste or smell (not because you simply didn’t like it), the steward should also be willing to switch it out, with exception. If you request an expensive wine and don’t like it, you are expected to pay for it, like it or not. It is generally not good restaurant etiquette to send a bottle back, especially if it is expensive. And it is never good etiquette to send a bottle back if half has been consumed. Not a wine drinker? Turning a wine glass upside down to decline wine is considered a snub and impolite. Instead, hold your hand over the wine glass to indicate you wish to pass on being poured.

Skeeters invite Tracy McGrady to 2014 spring training The Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball announced today that the club has extended a formal Spring Training invitation to former Houston Rocket and seventime National Basketball Association All-Star Tracy McGrady. The announcement was made by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti and General Manager Chris Jones. “I got called into the skipper’s office after practice and he let me know that I was going to be a part of the Skeeters’ Spring Training camp,” said McGrady. “This has been a goal of mine and it’s a great challenge. I’m looking forward to competing and I’m excited about this great opportunity.” The 6'8", right-handed pitcher has maintained a strict pitching regimen and workout schedule since last fall, following his official retirement from basketball. Last month, the Sugar Land Skeeters released a statement in response to McGrady’s public acknowledgement of his pursuit to pitch for the club. The organization expressed appreciation for McGrady’s talent and interest, as well as a commitment to continue monitoring his progress. “We’re intrigued by the progress Tracy has made thus far and really commend

him for putting in the work,” said Gaetti. “He will report to Spring Training with the other players and officially have his opportunity to earn a spot on the team. I’m really interested and excited to see how he continues to improve.” McGrady, 34, spent 16 years in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors (1997-2000), Orlando Magic (2000-04), Houston

Rockets (2004-09), New York Knicks (2009-10), Detroit Pistons (2010-11) and Atlanta Hawks (2011-12). During that span, McGrady earned two scoring titles (2002-04), seven All-Star Game nominations (2001-07) and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2001. In 2013, McGrady retired with more than 18,000 points and 5,000 rebounds in his career.

Signs & Symptoms of the Stomach Flu

The leading cause of intestinal inflammation in the United States is referred to as Norovirus. This virus causes conditions that are some times referred to as the “stomach flu” or “food poisoning”. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea or stomach pain. These can lead to dehydra tion. A major concern is with children and elderly. Norovirus is very con tagious and spreads quickly in closed places such as cruise ships, schools or nursing homes. The virus is transmitted by direct contact with con taminated surfaces, food or people. It may be two or more days before symptoms occur. The virus is most likely to be passed along to another person while showing symptoms and during the first 3 days after recov ery. Normally, symptoms resolve within 1 to 3 days. There is no cure for Norovirus and the only treatment is to stay well hydrated. During treatment, it is best to drink small amounts frequently. Rehydration for children and adults is best accomplished by using hy dration solutions, such as Pedialyte. Sugary sports drinks, soft drinks and juices should be avoided, as they can worsen diarrhea. Avoid contact between your mouth and hands before hand washing. Wash fruits and vegetables before eating and carefully cook oysters and shellfish. Clean contaminated surfaces with bleach-based products.
