now is no longer a phenomenon. March is a kinder month and often serves to soften the freezing Arctic blasts and freezing rains until Spring arrives on March 20. We begin the changes on March 9 when Daylight Savings Time (Spring forward; Fall back) provides an extra hour of light to our evenings. Begin thinking green, Saint Patrick’s Day arrives on March 17. World Water Day will be celebrated on March 22 and Pakistan Day on March 23. There’ll be plenty of activities to add to anyone’s activity list. This month our issue reflects on personal and business banking. We feature Bank of Texas and “Know What You Should Expect from a Bank.” You’ll have the opportunity to meet Jim Ogonosky, Mike Jiang, Frank Yonish and Mei Mei Jow, who stand ready to work with you as a business partner and be an extension of your team because they’re involved in your business plan. Reach out and learn more about your community players and the activities they step up to undertake. Fort Bend county is home to more than 1,500 not-for-profits that are constantly improving our community and their neighbors way of living, making the world an even better place to live. Check out the newly opened Pinnacle Senior Center that we share
with our neighbors to the east, Child Advocates, who daily protect abused and neglected children, and how our senior residents are helping other seniors. Or become better acquainted with Leap into Service through Compassion Katy. As we splash into the nine months left of celebrations (receptions, weddings, graduations, showers, and retirements) yet to come, remember Julie’s Cakes, a small business owned by Julie and Ron Clifton. Your voice is needed. As our county grows (our old count of 606,953 is six months old) we face transportation dilemmas that need solving. Distribution of goods becomes an issue. Safety is another. Gulf Coast Rail District is attempting to help as it moves forward with yet another study. TxDOT is working with county commissioners and officials and with cities to improve traffic flow and patterns. There is no denial, Fort Bend is constantly moving. The need for public transportation is expanding. That takes us to the doors of the newest Costco to open at I-10 and the Grand Parkway in West Katy. Keep the cash register ringing. Sharon Wallingford
