textures found in nature The table design was inspired by the textures found in nature and within the home. The wood table from Élan Event Rentals was the perfect backbone to the look. To mimic the grass mats found in most traditional South African homes, I chose a grass runner. I created texture in the florals with the quintessential South African flower, the Protea, mixed with garden roses and other foliage nested in woven grass bowls. Rather than using plates, I chose bowls for the traditional stews so often served in African homes. For the silverware, I collected driftwood on the beach and molded ceramic clay onto them.
