HANNAH HODGES: I turned 15 in August and I am from DeLand, FL. I travel back and forth to GA for training, but FL is still my home. I am an only child. FLMX: How did you get into riding? How long have you been riding now? HH: My dad used to race when I was younger and my parents bought me a PW when I was 2 or 3. I did not have much interest in riding until I was 6… and at that point something clicked and it was all I wanted to do. FLMX: You are the fastest woman I have ever seen on Mini Bikes. Patterson was fast on 80’s and Fiolek didn’t start going real fast until big bikes, but I think you have them beat. What’s your secret? HH: Thank you! I do not have a secret. Hard work and sacrifices. FLMX: You don’t always race the girl’s classes, instead of opting to race with the boys. Do you like whipping up on them and how does it help your riding? HH: Racing against the boys has challenged me to set goals and never settle. I have fun racing with the boys! FLMX: Who do you look up to in racing? What do you want to do with your racing career? HH: I would say Villopoto since he works hard and it shows in his racing. I want to be the first girl to get points in an outdoor national and keep progressing in women’s motocross. FLMX: WMX has dropped off in the last few years. The girls did have a full series and factory rides... What do you think about the state and future of WMX? HH: Very disappointing! But that said, I will just work harder and trust that I will achieve my goals and change the future of the sport. FLMX: Where are you riding and training at now? HH: The best training facility in the world – MTF!!! I could not ask for a better training program.
