Epiglue WHAT IS IT? Epiglue is a high performance marine and general purpose epoxy adhesive. Its thixotropic (non-sagging) nature enables it to be used for both close contact and gap filling joints. It offers a virtually colourless glue line once cured and is suitable for use both above and below the waterline. Its strong gluing properties make it ideal for all your gluing requirements around the home, office, boat and work place.

SUITABILITY? Bonding – wood, metal, fibreglass, concrete, brickwork, glass, rubber, china, tiles, ceramics and some types of plastics or similar substrates or one to another. ABS and the harder “crisper type plastics” can sometimes be bonded provided some care is taken to roughen the surface first.

Rubber can be bonded but if the glue line is to be flexed or stretched heavily then another type of adhesive such as contact glue should be used.

MIXING Take care when mixing Epiglue: • Always adhere to the correct mixing ratio to ensure maximum bond. • Avoid putting the resin stick in the hardener container and vice-versa. • Use separate sticks for dispensing the product from the containers. • Simple mixing ratio – refer below:

2 Parts Resin : 1 Part Hardener. Make sure the product is mixed to a uniform colour

GUIDELINES FOR USE • Ensure surface is clean and free from contamination and well abraded when surface is smooth to ensure maximum adhesion. • Apply mixed glue to the surface to be bonded. • Use clamps, screws, masking tape, clothes pegs etc. to hold joint in place. • Remove excess glue with a rag. • Adhere to drying times on the product label before putting article back into full use.

HANDY TIPS • For small jobs look for the Handyman Blister Pack. • Mix only enough to do the job at hand. • Apply clamps where possible. • Do not use on boric treated timber. • After gluing in cold temperatures, place object in warm place, e.g. hot water cupboard. • When gluing wood, test with a few drops of water on the surface first; if it beads up contamination is present on the surface; re-sand the surface and solvent wipe. • Not recommended on flexible joints or damp wet timber. • Skin contact with glue can be cleaned up with warm soapy water, however, it is strongly recommended that disposable gloves be worn at all times. • Tools can be cleaned with International Epoxy Thinners #7. • Some plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene and nylon cannot be bonded with Epiglue.
