Learn while you tour the new community garden in Punta Gorda. This first of its kind project is the culmination of planning by a committee of dedicated volunteers from TEAM Punta Gorda in collaboration with and funded through grants and contributions. Learn what it takes to design, build, and maintain a viable community garden. During this guided tour you will discover all the rewards that come with the hard work of building this type of project and gain valuable knowledge about raised bed gardening. Come learn about the thriving flowers and vegetables and discover why it really does take a community to build a garden! Located at South County Regional Park, 670 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda. Want to car pool or follow me? Meet in the Herald Court Parking Garage at 9:15am. Dress for strolling. A sweater or jacket may be needed. Bottled water will be provided. Go back to the era of the Big Band leaders like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, and Artie Shaw and singers Billie Holliday, Joe Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, and Frank Sinatra. The Big Bands and the singers they accompanied are part of the jazz movement, a uniquely American musical genre characterized by, "a spontaneity and vitality of musical production in which improvisation plays a role."
