Last year, 10 of FGCU’s 11 losses came away from Alico Arena, and so far this season only one of the Eagles’ losses have occurred inside the friendly confines of The Nest. Dating back to last year, FGCU has won 11 of its past 12 home games, and boasts a 20-2 record at Alico Arena since the start of the 2012-13 campaign. (Losses: Lipscomb, Iona).

Lipscomb was the only team to defeat FGCU twice last year, a major reason why the Eagles failed to win the regular-season title, finishing one game behind 14-4 Mercer. Lipscomb won the first matchup in overtime, 87-78, before completing the sweep in Nashville, 84-74. FGCU has never started an A-Sun schedule with two straight wins. In all six of their seasons as a conference member, the Eagles have began each year 1-1, with the exception of 2010-11 when they opened 0-2.

ODDS & ENDS

1 200

FGCU tallied its 200th all-time win against Florida A&M; the Eagles own a 200-156 record since the start of the program in 2002-03.

Chase Fieler recorded his third double-double of the season with a team-best 21 points and game-high 10 rebounds against Radford. It was the lone senior’s fifth career double-double, and third ina five-game stretch.

Florida A&M’s and Radford’s rebound total against FGCU, tied for the fewest caroms allowed by the Eagles this year. In their seven wins, FGCU is grabbing 37.1 rebounds per game and out-boarding its opposition by a +4.6 margin. However, in its seven losses, FGCU corals just 31.3 rebounds and is being out-rebounded by a -4.4 disparity.

PAYING DIVIDENS

When head coach Joe Dooley took over the FGCU program in the offseason, one of the key areas the former Kansas assistant emphasized was taking care of the ball. Last year, FGCU ranked 282nd in the nation in turnovers per game at 14.7. This season, the Eagles have ranked among the top 100 teams in the country, and they currently turn it over at an average of just 13 giveaways per game.

127

FGCU has made at least one 3-pointer in 127 consecutive games. Only twice since the program’s inception in 2002-03 have the Eagles failed to make a 3 in a game, and those games occurred back-to-back during the 2009-10 season. FGCU went 0-10 against UNF and then completed the homestand by going 0-8 versus Jacksonville two days later. Until that point, the Green and Blue had knocked down a 3-pointer in 228 straight games.

Did You KNow ?

The percentage FGCU shot (57.8) on 26-45 attempts from the field versus Brett Comer has 12 career double-figure assist games. Florida A&M, a season high. The player with the next closest total in the A-Sun is Mercer senior Langston Hall who only has three such games.

16-1

Looking further into the Eagles’ home-court advantage, FGCU’s first non-conference loss at Alico since the 2010-11 season took place Dec. 1 against Iona, breaking a stretch of 15 straight wins at home. The Green and Blue went 5-0 in 2011-12, 7-0 in 2012-13 and 4-1 this year.

FGCU has become one of the first schools in the nation to partner with ECAL, enabling Eagles fans immediate access to a dynamic calendar marketing platform. Fans can log on to FGCUAthletics.com/ECAL to easily add their favorite sports schedules in just seconds directly into their personal calendar, whether it be on a smartphone, tablet, computer or even Facebook.

The only category in which FGCU has been significantly better on the road than at home is free-throw shooting as the Eagles are connecting at just 57.7 percent (56-97) at home but do so at a 64.9-percent clip (63-97) on the road. Furthermore, in FGCU’s first three road games, both Chase Fieler and Nate Hicks got into early foul trouble as each starter picked up two fouls in each game after just eight minutes of action. For Fieler, the Eagles lone senior picked up both of his fouls within the first five minutes of the games starting.

NATIONAL EXPOSURE FGCU has 10 regular-season games in 2013-14 slated to appear on national or regional television. Prior to this year, the Eagles only had three such games – and only one on national TV – in their six previous seasons as a Division-I member. Additionally, for the first time ever, all remaining home games not on TV will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. FGCU has already been showcased on TV six times this season either nationally or regionally. The Eagles have played on the Big Ten Network, ESPN2, Fox Sports 1, ESPNU and CSS (twice) so far this year, with four of those being shown nationally.

FGCU CAREER RECORDS Junior Brett Comer has 499 career assists to rank second all-time and is 123 behind leader Bryan Crislip (622). The guard dished out an average of 6.6 dimes per game last year, good for 14th in the nation and tops in the Atlantic Sun. Bernard Thompson is near the top of the career steals list as he is ranked second all-time with 168, only 26 shy of Crislip’s record of 194.

Chase Fieler is currently third in all-time rebounding with 551 and needs 19 to reach Adam Liddell’s 570 and 39 to surpass Sherwood Brown’s record of 589. With junior Bernard Thompson and senior Chase Fieler having already surpassed the 1,000-career point milestone this year, next in line to join the duo is junior Brett Comer (785). If the guard continues on his 14.2 points per game average, he will reach the mark before the end of the regular season.

TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN With 102 steals from the 2012-13 season, Bernard Thompson is the top returning steals leader in the nation entering the 2013-14 campaign.

FGCU ATHLETICS DID YOU KNOW?

• FGCU has won a combined 32 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 6+ years in Division I as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference & Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association. • In just 2+ years of Division I postseason eligibility, FGCU has sent 7 teams to the NCAA Tournament, while men’s golf and women’s

swimming have had an individual participate in their respective NCAA Championship each year. • Backed by four Atlantic Sun regular season crowns and four more teams that finished in the top 3 of the conference standings, FGCU swept all three of the a-sun all-sport races in 2012-13. The four A-Sun regular season titles were tied for a league-high, while the Eagles are just the second A-Sun member to sweep the three All-Sport races. • After becoming the first team into the NCAA field of 68 by winning the A-Sun Tournament, the FGCU men’s basketball team became the first no. 15 seed in nCaa tournament history to advance to the sweet 16. The Eagles became the Cinderella of the 2013 dance, as they defeated No. 2 seed Georgetown and No. 7 seed San Diego State. The team’s up-tempo style and refreshing charisma resulted in Fort Myers being called “Dunk City.” A

O

• FGCU women’s basketball was just the second A-Sun team to produce a perfect conference regular season in 2011-12, going 18-0, but it became the first to do so in back-to-back seasons with its second straight 18-0 mark in 2012-13. The Eagles A-Sun regular season crown was their third in the last six years. • FGCU’s 53 combined wins in men’s and women’s basketball in 2012-13 was the 9th-best total in the nation, while it joined Duke, Louisville and Gonzaga as the only schools with at least 26 wins in both. • In the fall of 2012, FGCU swept the A-Sun team sports regular season, taking home the men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball crowns. For the second straight year, FGCU was the only Division I school to win its conference regular season and postseason tournament in both men’s and women’s soccer. • FGCU’s student-athletes achieved a record 3.31 Cumulative Gpa in the Spring of 2013 semester.

Set a D-I program record and tied the all-time program record with 19 rebounds - all defensive - while rejecting five shots but did not score at USF (Dec. 17). Six of his seven games with a block have been multi-rejection contests: 2/2/8/2/4/5. Recorded his first career double-double with a career-high-tying 12 points and thencareer-best 11 rebounds against Ave Maria (Nov. 23). Was one rebound and two blocks shy of the program’s first triple-double versus Eckerd (Nov. 18) as he had a career high in points (12), rebounds (9) and blocks (8), with the eight rejections setting the single-game program record. Played his first game with FGCU since transferring from Georgia Tech, earning the 2013-14 #DunkCity Basketball start at Nebraska (Nov. 8) and grabbing six rebounds and tallying four points. FGCU Individual (as All-ACC of Dec 31, 2013) (2011-12 at Georgia Tech) NamedGame-by-Game to the Academic team (Management major) All games ... saw time in 23 games, missing six games late in the season recovering from mono.
