In addition to a new assist mark at 22, the Eagles set season highs in points scored, field-goals made, fieldgoals attempted, field-goal percentage and 3-point percentage in the 99-57 win over Mercer. The point total marked the Eagles’ highest since the 2012-13 season opener against Warner and the most points scored in an Atlantic Sun game since February of 2009. Individually, Dunson set a new career high at 23 points.

nO sophomore slump After averaging 3.9 points per game in 12 minutes last season, sophomore Stephanie Haas has stepped up her game this year. Haas had a breakout week with twoconsecutive career-high scoring performances where she put up 19 points against Charlotte and 20 points at Southern Miss. She followed with 22 points in the win over USF. She is currently averaging 11.2 points per game in 26.3 minutes and has started 21 games this season.

comeback of the year Redshirt sophomore Whitney Knight returned to action this season after sitting out all of last season with an ACL injury. Knight excelled with a career-high 25 points and three blocks in the season opener at FIU and has since averaged a 13 points per game with a team-high 67 blocks and 16 double-figure performances.

PRESEASON AWARDS The Eagles picked up numerous preseason awards with senior Sarah Hansen leading the way. Hansen was named the Atlantic Sun Preseason Player of the Year, the Atlantic Sun Fan-Voted Preseason Player of the Year and the College Sports Madness Preseason Player of the Year. Sophomore Whitney Knight earned Atlantic Sun Preseason All-Conference nod, while DyTeisha Dunson was voted by the fans as the Defensive Preseason Player of the Year. Head Coach Karl Smesko was named the Preseason Coach of the Year by College Sports Madness to begin the year.

STRONG START The Eagles earned their third-consecutive win against Charlotte at home before losing three straight on the road. The team bounced back with two wins to increase its record to 5-3 before finishing the nonconference slate with a win over Saint Francis and losses to LSU, Virginia and Saint Joseph’s.
