Alex Aldaz is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer program. Prior to joining the FGCU men’s soccer staff, Aldaz served as an assistant coach at Xavier University. In his two years at Xavier, Aldaz helped the Musketeers reach the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament for the first time in nine years, best conference record and most overall wins in four years. Aldaz was also responsible for recruiting two 2006 Atlantic 10 All Rookie Team selections, in which Xavier was one of only two schools in the fourteen team conference to have multiple selections.

Prior to his tenure at Xavier, Aldaz served as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton, and helped lead the Flyers to an 11-7-1 overall record including an 8-3-0 mark and runner-up finish in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2004. While at Dayton, Aldaz coached US National Team selections and Major League Soccer standouts Chris Rolfe and Dasan Robinson, along with four all Atlantic 10 Conference, three NSCAA All Region, and one NSCAA All American studentathletes. Before his stint at Dayton, Aldaz was an assistant coach at the University of Redlands, a Division III institution in Redlands, California. In his two years at Redlands, Aldaz enjoyed a considerable amount of success as the Bulldogs boasted a two-year record of 36-4-2 and finished ranked in the top-11 nationally in both 2002 and 2003. The Bulldogs also won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in each of his two seasons, and were the highest scoring team in the 2003 NCAA Division III regular season with 92 goals in 20 games. For the 200203 seasons, Aldaz coached twelve All SCIAC, two SCIAC Players of the Year, six NSCAA All Region, and two NSCAA All American student-athletes. Prior to his two-year stretch at Redlands, Aldaz was the assistant coach at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas during the 2001 season.

Aldaz began his coaching career for the Austin Flyers Soccer Club in Austin, Texas, where he was responsible for training and coaching nationally-ranked boys’ soccer teams. Aldaz was a former midfielder in the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues and helped the University of Texas club team to a national championship in 1996. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, has a master’s degree from the University of Redlands, and has received the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Aldaz is also a staff coach for Florida ODP. A Buenos Aires, Argentina native, Aldaz is fluent in Spanish and speaks some Italian. He resides in Estero with his wife, Gina, and his son, Alex Jr.
