Ce programme vous plongera dans un univers où bon sens et logique n’ont plus cours. Une overdose d’humour et d’étrangeté sans complexe. Au programme, trois courts de PES, l’un des maîtres de l’animation en stop motion. Quatre films du collectif d’animation How It Should Have Ended. Un hommage à Adam Green ( HATCHET ) qui nous offre trois courts-métrages désopilants dont THE TIFFANY PROBLEM , en première canadienne. GOLDEN AGE , le tour de force d’Aaron Augenblick, documentant la déchéance de personnages de dessins-animés. BATTLE OF THE ALBUM COVERS , le chef-d’œuvre euphorisant de Rohitash Rao & Abraham Spear. Les nostalgiques de la télé des années 70 apprécieront l’humour pervers de WOOD SPIDER d’Andrew Struthers. Alors que les anglais nous proposent HOW TO PICK UP GIRLS et les animés CAT MAN DO et LET ME IN de Simon Tofield, tous deux inspirés de l’hypocrisie de son chat, la France nous surprend avec deux courts étonnant : DUNK de Patrick Bagot et CONTRE LA MONTRE de Mickaël Le Meur, un film qui démontre que le voyage dans le temps est une activité périlleuse. Pour sa part, l’Australie s’impose avec LONE RIDER de K. Burgess & E. McGill, la finale idéale pour un programme aussi bigarré. Comme l’an dernier, DJ XL5 fait aussi une place importante au Québec en proposant des courts de Carnior, Eddie 69, Mathieu Fontaine, Simon Lacroix, Francois Mercier et trois primeurs du collectif Road Kill Superstar. Vous verrez finalement un avant-goût du film SANS DESSINS du collectif Dead Cat Films. Comme à chaque année, arrivez tôt car DJ XL5 est le seul programmateur à Fantasia à débuter 20 minutes avant l’heure prévu. DJ XL5 est un artiste multimédia et collagiste montréalais. Ses programmes de courts-métrages et événements thématiques ont été présentés à travers le Canada dans plusieurs festivals de films, salles de répertoire et autres événements. Le KALEIDOSCOPIC ZAPPIN’ PARTY, son précédent programme de courts a été présenté dans 16 villes canadiennes et devant une salle comble au Théâtre Maisonneuve de la Place des Arts. Cette année, il présente son premier court-métrage, 16-33-45-78 dans le programme CELLULOID EXPERIMENTS .

You’ll discover three shorts from PES, a master of stop-motion animation, and four spoof cartoons by the American collective How It Should Have Ended .DJ XL5 pays a tribute to Adam Green ( Hatchet and Spiral ) by screening three of his shorts, including the Canadian premiere of the humorous THE TIFFANY PROBLEM . Aaron Augenblick’s tour de force GOLDEN AGE reveals the sordid lives of eccentric cartoon characters from yesteryear. Famous animated album covers battle to the death in Rohitash Rao & Abraham Spear’s marvellous BATTLE OF THE ALBUM COVERS . Nostalgic for ’70s and ’80s TV? You’ll appreciate Andrew Struthers’s twisted HINTERLAND WHO’S WHO: WOOD SPIDER . England offers us Dan Gitsham’s HOW TO PICK UP GIRLS , and Simon Tofield’s CAT MAN DO and LET ME IN , two cartoons inspired by his cat’s selfishness. France surprises us with Patrick Bagot’s DUNK and Mickaël Le Meur’s CONTRE LA MONTRE , a film about the perils of time travelling. Australians K. Burgess & E. McGill’s LONE RIDER proves to be the perfect ending for such a diversified program. Like last year, DJ XL5 leaves room for local filmmakers such as Carnior(MONGOLO DIABLO ), Eddie 69 ( TROP ), Mathieu Fontaine, Simon Lacroix (world premiere of 2072 ), Francois Mercier (MAILLOU ) and three premieres from Montreal’s twisted collective Road Kill Superstar. Finally, you’ll be able to see a sneak preview of SANS DESSINS , the first feature film from Montreal collective Dead Cat Films. As with every year, arrive early because XL5 is the only Fantasia programmer with a record of strating 20 minutes early! DJ XL5 is a local multimedia artist whose short-film programs and special events have traveled across Canada to film festivals, repertory theatres and other events. Last year’s Kaleidoscopic Zappin’ Party was screened in 16 Canadian cities and in front Place des Arts’s Théâtre Maisonneuve, filled to over capacity.
