Emma Stone to star in ‘Cabaret’ on Broadway

Site accused Tame Impala of plagiarism as ‘a joke’

Roundabout Theatre Company said Wednesday that Emma Stone will make her Broadway debut in “Cabaret” as Sally Bowles, as rumored, on Nov. 11. Stone is taking over from Michelle Williams at the Studio 54 theater. Williams leaves Nov. 9 and Alan Cumming, who plays the chilling Emcee, has extended to March 29. Williams first stepped into the role this spring when Stone withdrew due to scheduling conflicts. The current show is a revival of a revival, which ran for more than 2,000 performances from 1998 to 2004 and won the Tony Award in 1998 for best musical revival. (AP)

The authors of an article claiming the band Tame Impala plagiarized from an Argentinian artist say it was “a joke.” Chilean site Rata earlier this month posted the article, which notes similarities between Tame Impala’s hit, “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” and Pablo Ruiz’s 1989 pop song “Oceano.” After the story went viral earlier this week, the site’s editors told Rolling Stone, “We never thought we’d had this impact, and we’re very surprised about it.” Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker agreed, replying to Rolling Stone’s request for comment with, “This is a joke, right?” (EXPRESS)
