The Department of Exceptional Education within JMU’s College of Education has the right minor program for you: Non-teaching Exceptional Education! The Exceptional Education Nonteaching minor is ideal for students who are pursuing professions in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psychology, Health Sciences, and Nursing, to name a few. The Exceptional Education Non-teaching minor will enhance your main program of study by providing you with necessary instruction on the varying needs of individuals with disabilities and how to meet those needs as a professional. You may begin the 18-credit minor after speaking with an advisor and completing a prerequisite class. You must declare the minor before the end of the first semester of your junior year. Upon successful completion of your minor program, you will have increased your knowledge of the unique programming and life planning, communication, behavioral, developmental, and social needs of individuals with exceptional learning needs.
