Message from the Chair Full Speed Ahead By Carrie Dolinar, Chair Talencio

As we start the last quarter of the year, we often times reflect back on the earlier months to make sure we are on track for hitting year end goals. Some may be slightly behind and others are right on track. Why not reach for the stars? It’s never too late. There has never been a better time to give it everything you’ve got and drive full speed ahead. In any business, it’s so easy to ride out the last few months of the year… school is back in session, w-i-n-t-e-r is approaching and that means the holiday season is among us. We have a lot on our minds. We are busy people. It is in our blood to prepare ourselves for what is to come. Let’s not forget that there is still a lot of year left….a lot can happen in 3 months. If we put half the energy we spend on thinking of what is coming towards our business today, just think of what we can accomplish. Let’s focus on the now. Let’s not let anticipations get in the way of us hitting our goals. Keep the momentum going! Make small goals, let your team know what your goals are, hit those goals and then make new ones. It’s energizing to have a team of people cheering you on. This also helps you keep your eye on the end goal. Before you know it, you will have exceeded your goals for the year and feel really good about your accomplishments. Most importantly, celebrate successes – you deserve it! Where are you going to spend your time these last few months? Is it networking? Maybe there is someone within the Eden Prairie Chamber that can help move you closer to your goal. Who can you help? The Chamber is cheering you on and moving full speed ahead with many programs so be sure to watch the calendar to see where you can spend some of your time. Are you ready to cross the finish line strong?

Planning and Events

Discounted Advertising Opportunities

As the Chamber continues its 3 year strategic planning efforts, we are reviewing the programs and services we offer and the value each offers for our member businesses. The process has been very vigorous, with numerous opportunities to gather data and feedback from our members and Board of Directors. We will be putting together the top focus areas for the Chamber at the end of September and plan to share much of this with the membership at our annual meeting in December.

We will be opening up the November newsletter to extended and discounted advertising opportunities. If you would like to see your unique products or services featured in the November Chamber newsletter which reaches nearly 1,000 leaders in the local business community, please contact Sarah at sarah.ober@epchamber.org for details on discounted pricing and availability.

As part of our Nominating Committees recent work, the Board of Directors has made a change to our By-Laws. This change adds an additional opportunity for a member to be involved with our Board of Directors as an Advisory Member. The purpose of this position is to provide a member the opportunity to participate and provide context in Board meeting discussions and potential Board action.

It is with a heavy heart we share news of the passing of Joe Smith, former Chair of the Board of Directors and former V.P. and General Manager of Elliott Aviation. I had the privilege of getting to know Joe through his involvement with the Chamber. Joe was extremely knowledgeable on many issues and was someone who would step-up to get things done. He always had great advice to give and loved playing golf. He gave his all with his time and energy with everything he did and had a AUGUST 4 • 4:30 - 6:00 PM great sense of humor. Joe passed away from ALS and will be sorely missed.

Chamberfest draws big crowd at Premier Jet Center The Chamber recently held its annual Chamberfest Member Appreciation Event at Premier Jet Center at Flying Cloud Airport. This event drew over 100 members and gave us a great opportunity to bring members together and thank them for their support of the Chamber. We thank our food providers for the evening – Jet Pizza, Cub Foods, Pinstripes and Nothing Bundt Cakes. The Lions Club brought our beverages and bar for us (if you need this at one of your events please contact them) and members got to step on-board a jet in the hangar and learn more about Wings of the North. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres gave all members a treat with Mary Poppins performing! Check out the photos in the newsletter!

Great Participation and Attendance at Chamber Events! We gathered at Bethel University in Bloomington on September 3 to learn how to put our businesses on the Google map. A big thanks to Pat and Dale with LTR Digital Group, a Google Partner Agency in the Minneapolis area, for teaching us how to make sure customers can find our complete business information on the Google map.

Let’s Put BEER on the Map If you missed this program and would like to learn more about how to put your business on the Google map, check out the Business Resource Center to learn more.

We celebrated another great year of dedicated and enthusiastic members at our annual Chamberfest event. This year, we took the celebration to the Premier Jet Center hangar at Flying Cloud Airport.
