alongside involvement in co-curricular activities. We place a high value in student engagement and involvement in contributing to the needs of their home communities. In reviewing an application for admission, members of the admissions staff consider the following: the secondary school record, including strength of the curriculum in the junior and senior year; advanced or enrichment courses taken (dual-enrollment, AP, IB), performance and aptitude as measured by GPA, class rank, and standardized test scores; and involvement and leadership in extracurricular and community activities. Additionally, personal statements or essays are required, while recommendation letters are strongly considered. Specific admissions requirements include four years of English, three or more units of mathematics (at least through Algebra II), two or more units of laboratory science, at least two units of a single foreign language, and two or more units of social studies and history. Among electives, at least one course in the fine arts is strongly recommended.

Early Decision

Emory & Henry College offers a binding, early decision option for students who have given considerable thought to their college choice, have visited Emory & Henry College, understand the value of the College’s academic and co-curricular programs and believe Emory & Henry is the best choice for their future goals. Additionally, highly motivated and academically gifted students who choose Early Decision will be considered for an early interview for the College Honors Program. There are limited seats available for the Honors Program each year. Seats will be offered and filled on a competitive basis.

Campus Policies

Early Decision students must apply by November 15. Notification of decisions begins December 15. If accepted, students agree to confirm their seat in the class by January 15. An admitted student may reserve a place in the entering class by submitting an enrollment deposit of $400 ($250 for commuters). This deposit is applied to tuition charges for the initial semester of enrollment. The enrollment deposit for Early Decision is non-refundable. Students may apply via the online E&H application, or through the Common Application website. Application requirements are the same for either application method. An official financial aid package is sent within two weeks of acceptance. All students who apply through Early Decision must file the FAFSA4Caster financial award estimator no later than December 1. Students seeking need-based financial aid who receive an Early Decision financial aid package must also file the official Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which available in January each year. Emory & Henry does not differentiate the amount of financial aid offered to students who apply for Early Decision versus Regular Decision applicants. However, if the financial aid award is insufficient to reasonably permit enrollment, students will be released from their agreement to attend Emory & Henry College. For more information, please review the Early Decision program requirements within the College’s website.
