A Message from the Managing Director The 2013 yearbook makes impressive reading with our largest graduating group. Young professionals who leave us will now carry our reputation worldwide. This is an excellent timing to graduate as the hospitality industry is continuing to grow worldwide and particularly in this region. There are so many opportunities for our ambitious young men and women to demonstrate the strengths and skills they have acquired during their time with us. This is always my opportunity to thank you, our graduates, for having chosen The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management to undertake your studies. We know that you had a choice and we sincerely appreciate your confidence in us. Do keep in touch and good luck to you all.

A Message from the Dean The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) is a very special place. It is characterised by its students and their aspirations to be the Industry Leaders of the Future. Most of these students join us just for three years. In this intense period of time they progress through a carefully structured programme of academic courses, industry exposure and internship and they complete their consultancy and dissertation assignments. They follow a rigorous business degree programme that is accredited and endorsed across the globe, and after just three years they graduate and start their professional careers. The employment record of our graduates is outstanding with several of our nine cohorts of graduates now in corporate and very senior positions. When students arrive for their orientation at EAHM we usually play a game. I ask them to think on their own and then in groups of what they can do to be an “A” student. The points they feedback I write on a board and at the end we discuss and re-enforce the most important issues. At the end of this discussion its pointed out that the “A” does not relate to the grade A that they may aspire to achieve in all of their work, it actually means “Academy Student” and that a student who graduates from EAHM is well prepared for highly successful careers in our industry because they understand the importance of being a professional. It is this emphasis on professionalism that we believe makes our graduates stand out. Graduation is always a time of mixed emotions for our faculty and staff. We have grown to know the students over the last few years and although it is often sad to see them leave us, we also know that they are well prepared for the world of work, and that most of them will keep in contact with us. 6
