Gal Awarded NSW Regional Player of the Round Pete Gallichan’s barnstorming 154 in first grade’s victory over The Entrance was rewarded with him being named Cricket NSW’s Carlton Mid Regional Player of the Week and awarded a gift card from Carlton United Breweries. In what was an entertaining innings, Gallichan came in at 1/16 after the loss of Matt Friend and looked in complete control, combining with Chris Brockwell (38) in a 60 run partnership. After losing Brockwell to a run out, Gallichan then amassed a 201 run partnership with Daniel Beswick (81), taking the game away from their opponents with a mix of patience early and aggression in the latter stages. Gallichan reached his century in grand style, and then raced to 150 with some clever, attacking batting, before being stumped in the final overs with the score at 301. His innings included 21 boundaries to all parts of the ground.

With Narara eventually reaching 7/323 after the 90 overs, the bowling unit then stepped up to dismiss The Entrance for 206 on a flat batting wicket. Mark Smith (2/29) and Kyle Jordan (1/36) kept things tight early, with Mark McLachlan’s 2/53 complimenting a destructive spell by Dane Hokin, who finished with figures of 5/51. After a washed out round four clash with Terrigal, the first grade eleven travel to Col Gooley Oval at Umina to take on Southern Spirit on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, we lost a couple of early wickets to some ill-disciplined strokeplay before Bharath Ganapathy (21) and Kered Baird (27) took us to 3-67. From there batsmen 6 through 11 failed to reach double figures and we crumbled, not for the first time this season, to be dismissed under three figures in 53 overs. Some excellent bowling by Keiran Lawson, Tom Head (2-21) and newcomer James Smith restricted the Seagulls to 3-59 from 27 overs at stumps. On day two, the skipper mixed his fast bowlers around while sticking with Smithy at the other end. The tactic brought a wicket at each end before an instinctive reaction at short leg by Ethan Lulham snared a runout to have the visitors teetering at 6-77. Enter Dave Eddy. The larger than life left hander dispatched the Kookaburra to all parts of the G, including Narara Creek, to almost single handedly wrestle the match away from the Lions. Combining with a younger partner, they put on a century partnership in quick time before the Seagulls declared when Eddy fell just short of his ton. Facing a deficit of 130 with 59 overs remaining, the Lions moved to 2-80 after a disciplined opening partnership and some sensible batting and selective hitting by Adam Walsh (31) and Bharath before we lost our remaining eight batsmen for 44 runs to once again let ourselves down and suffer a humiliating outright defeat. Round 3 Terrigal vs Narara at Duffy’s Road

Third Grade Round 3 at Duffy’s Road Terrigal 9/277 (A. Baird 2/43, M. Barsing 2/56 defeated Narara-Wyoming 115 (J. Fitzgibbon 25, A. Baird 21)

The skipper called incorrectly and Terrigal elected to bat. With a few unavailabilities, the opening bowling combination changed yet again with Jordan Fitzgibbon and Mal Barsing taking the new rock. There was enough in the deck early to do some damage and we soon had our opponents at 3 for 20, Gummy Fitzgibbon with a couple and Wookie Barsing in a miserly frame of mind. However we couldn’t sustain the pressure as our ground fielding and catching let us down again. Pressure dropped again and saw us fail to dismiss a side inside 80 overs for the first time I can recall- 9-277 off their overs. Again we let the total blow out well passed where it should have been with nine spilled chances. The Wookie finished with 2 for 56 of 22, Aras was the next best with 2 for 43 of 16 The batting card is an even more damning tale of woe with 8 of 10 dismissals bowled or leg before and almost half the total coming from bats 9,10 and 11 with Fitzgibbon top scoring at number 10 with 25 not out. Aras had 21 and looked comfortable but failed to capitalise on a start.

Fifth Grade Round 3 at Alan Davidson Oval Brisbane Water 9/272 (G.Christy 4/40, N.Dixon 2/19) defeated Narara Wyoming 120 (N.Dixon 69no) Another toss won by us so with the strong bowling attack I (Geoff Christy) again chose to bowl first. It looked like a good decision as Lucas Sadler (11 overs 1/57) bowled one of the openers in his first over and Brisbane Water were quickly 1-1. Both Christy and Sads bowled tightly in their opening spells to restrict Brisbane Water to not many runs after 12 overs, with Jeff Monin and Sean Wise coming on first change and continuing the good bowling without any luck. Neil Dixon (8 overs 2/19) and Kyle Frost bowled well in tandem, and with Dicko picking up the other opener. After a partnership of 58 Nick Lulham (6 overs 1/30) was brought on with immediate effect as he picked up an early wicket to break a strong partnership. Brisbane Water then got away from us before myself and Sads returned for second spells to good effect. With a 12th career attempt at a hat-trick with 2 unlikely LBWs, I missed the hat-trick as the ball was left outside off stump. Brisbane Water with wickets in hand decided that quick runs were the order of the day and while the hitting went on I managed to snare 2 more wickets to finish with 4/40 off 15 overs. While our ground fielding was outstanding

we did manage to drop 8 catches in all which did not allow us to keep their score under 200.

Who is your favourite international cricket player? AB De Villiers. Favourite Australian cricket player? Steve ‘the dad’ Smith. If you could have any player come and do a training run with the team who would it be? Shane Warne. What do you think is your personal cricketing highlight so far? Playing NSW country cricket in the under 16s. How quick can you eat a Paddle Pop? I bite them, could knock one over in under 20 seconds. Favourite Food? Chinese. Favourite Movie(s)? Get him to the Greek/Step brothers What is the strangest thing you have ever seen on a cricket field? Watching someone get clean bowled and blaming the umpire for the decision. Smarties or jelly beans? Jelly beans. Football team? South Sydney When not playing cricket, what else do you like doing? Drinking beers and having a punt. Favourite Colour? Green

Reports Continued Day two did not get off to a good start as Jeff Monin and Israel Coggan were dismissed off the 3rd and 4th ball of the first over. Peter Stuckey was then caught behind off a ball that moved off the seam and would have had any batsmen in trouble and we were quickly 3/2 off 3 overs. Rob Milroy and Neil Dixon then set about righting the ship as they put together a well compiled 24 run partnership before Rob fell on 8. Another good partnership between Nick Lulham and Neil then followed to have us at drinks at 4/40. After losing Lulham, Sean Wise then came out and had another good stand with Neil of 14 runs before he was fired lbw for 5 after smashing the ball into his pads and we were now 6/62 and looking seriously at having to bat again. Lucas then came to the crease and another small partnership ensued of 10 runs before Lucas fell on 8, then the captain came to the crease and after taking guard walk backed promptly for a golden duck after hitting the ball straight down mid on’s throat. In all sorts at 9/89, new man Mark Sorrodimi came out and through a lot of application and some good blocking skills managed to stay at the crease for 15 overs with Neil before he fell on 10. Unfortunately this meant we managed to leave Neil stranded on

a well made 69no as he carried his bat through the innings. Seventh Grade Round 3 at Harry Moore Oval No.2 Narara 169 (C. Rowan 47*) and 2/36 (C. Rowan 19) defeated Northern Power outright 42 (B. Dale 7/17) and 148 (P. Sherwood 5/23)

Following a strong away performance last round the gentlemen of NararaWyoming were once again on the road to play against Northern Power at Harry Moore Oval. In consistent fashion our skipper lost the toss and we were sent in to bat. Runs were at a premium thanks to some tight bowling from the opposition which was exemplified during Tom Maurer’s (20) and Don Lavery’s (26) partnership where the run rate motored along to about 1.5 runs an over! But credit where credit is due their patience built a platform from which Chris Rowan (47*) and Brandon Dale (19) could make a swashbuckling late

charge to post a score of 169 after 60.5 overs. Only through some unfortunate dismissals were we unable to bat the full 70; which we will need to achieve to beat the best sides this season. Overnight we were in the driving seat having the opposition 3/28 at the end of play. Our three pronged attack “the D.R.S” (Dale, Rowan & Sherwood) certainly ate their Weet-Bix the following Saturday as they dispatched the remainders all out for 42 with Brandon picking up a career best 7/17 off 9 overs! Sensing an outright on the cards we enforced the follow-on, Northern Power however, weren’t giving up without a fight. A valiant 118 1st wicket partnership between two 14 year olds looked to weaken our hopes until Peter came to the party collecting a career first 5 wicket haul from 10 overs for a paltry 23 runs! And so for Narara the stage was set for a gettable target of 32 runs in 8 overs. We did it in less than 4! And that, ladies and gentlemen is two outright victories on the trot!

Junior Reports Match Report - T20 Blast Garnet Adcock Park (Gosford) 31st October, 2015

After a long wait, our T20 Blast Superstars finally got their chance to take the field. Adcock Park was the exciting venue for the first game of cricket for most of our 26 boys and girls, with pumping music adding to the action on the 10 fields.

Our Milo kids from last year showed their skills had developed, and our players new to cricket also displayed they are learning very quickly. There were lots of amazing catches, run-outs, 4s and 6s, not to mention our bowlers sent the wickets flying regularly! It was great to see ‘text book’ straight drives into the ‘Double Run Zone’ and our fielders walking in to anticipate the ball and execute clean pick-ups to throw at the stumps successfully. Our three teams all scored over 200 runs, all with a smile. Thank you very much to all the parents, grand parents, siblings and friends for cheering us on, with extra special thanks to our managers and parents who helped us around the park. We can’t wait to get back on the pitch this weekend and show everyone how keen our Lion Cubs are. Andrew Bull The Roar

Junior Reports Cont. Under 11 Cubs - Round 5 7th November, 2015 vs Entrance Blue at The Village Green (Kariong) Result: NWJCC won

All-in-all, a fantastic team effort with everyone contributing, especially our backing up in the field. Well Done!!

After an up and down start to the season (2 wins, 2 losses) the boys have started to show their true potential, and their great team spirit by notching up a well-deserved win against a previously undefeated Entrance team.

Under 12B - Round 2 v Northern Power at Paddy Clifton 1 (Narara) 24th & 31st October, 2015

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the boys backed this decision up with some good tight bowling (though mixed with some dodgy fielding on a very difficult outfield) to have The Entrance at 4 out for 77 runs. Some great bowling again by everyone with Keegan, Liam & Harry as standouts. A superb run out which saw Bailey combine with Riley, gave us something possible to chase. We started our batting slow & steady, with Brock & Isaac standing up to the attack. This was followed up with some quick fire knocks from Bailey, Harley, & Riley which drew us close to our goal. Despite losing 3 quick wickets, Jarrah & Harry guided us past the target with ease to post a score of 4 out for 88.

With our first round being a bye, this match was our welcome to the 2015/16 season. We took on Northern Power at Paddy Clifton Oval. We lost the toss, and they sent us in for a bat. They bowled us out for 156 runs, with Ryan Bird top scoring with 55. Jake Martin scored a total of 27, hitting 3 sixes in a row (costing me $20 for the first 6 hit!!). Day one, and we were bowling. By the end of that first day we had them at 4 down for only 23, which was a good start. Day two arrived, and Billy Flynn was on a hat-trick, though just missed out! Our boys rolled them – all out for 73. A first innings win to the Lions Well done boys !! Craig Smith

Under 16B – Round 2 at Frost Reserve Narara-Wyoming 9/117 (cc) defeated Kincumber-Avoca Green 81 Having moved up from 15C to 16B this season, the prospect of playing last year’s 15B runners up was a daunting one. After having been sent in by the Griffons, our goal was to bat out our fifty overs and reach 100. Jayden Fender and Nathan Ball did a great job opening against some quick and accurate bowling to see them off before we lost three quick wickets. Harry Moriarty (35) and Bella Fitzgibbon (23) combined for a 63 run partnership to push us to a strong position before an untimely runout saw Harry depart and Bella followed soon after. We reached 5-101 before slumping to 9-107 but in the end we achieved our goal of batting out all overs to finish on a respectable 9-117. On day two, the team forgot how to appeal when Lachlan Fitzgerald struck one of the Kincumber openers on the top of his foot in front of middle stump. Thankfully he bowled the batsman two balls later. We then made two consecutive runouts. Firstly with Jayden Fender diving in the gully to stop a ball and returning a rocket back to the stumps and then Bella causing a mix-up in the same area. Jayden (2-4) then bowled a great three over spell and was backed up by Bella‘s (1-3) tight four over spell. Dale Fish’s fielding was setting the standard before a couple of missed chances from the team allowed the Griffon captain off the hook. Lachlan (4-10 from 8 overs) came back with his second spell to clean up the tail. The last two catches by Harry (slips) and Riley Borthwick (gully) were well made with the balls really moving. In the end
