Food trucks are not unique to Philadelphia, but they certainly hold a special place in the city’s cultural landscape. From greasy breakfast sandwiches off a truck near Suburban Station to a cheesesteak “wiz wit” off a cart near Temple University’s campus in North Philadelphia, a plethora of people rely on street food vendors in the region every day, and that number continues to grow.
From the outset, we wanted this publication – authored, edited, and designed by nine students in Temple University’s Master of Journalism program – to be more than a compilation of reviews, and we worked tirelessly to include content that was both relevant and interesting.
The ensuing pages highlight various storylines related to the food truck industry – permit matters, nutritional regulations, cook-off competitions, and entrepreneur stories – in addition to exploring some of the top-ranked food trucks in the Philadelphia region.
