■ Cancels due to low enrollment Although most classes run, we reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. We will notify you three business days before the start date if your class has been canceled. Your tuition will be refunded in full. ■ Individuals With Disabilities ! Call 952-848-3952 if your child needs assistance in attending a class. Please allow at least a 2 week notice for us to make arrangements for assistance. ■ If you need to cancel or change your class schedule. Cancellations or changes in your class schedule are accepted up to five business days before your class begins. Less than five business days prior to the start of class, you will be assessed a $10.00 fee and the course supply fee and you will be issued a credit it slip. No refunds on or after the class start date. Weekly camps are not prorated. No refunds due to inclement weather. ■ Late Pick-up Fees Parents arriving later than 5 minutes after the end of class will be charged $1 per minute. Payment is due at pick-up.

Fundamental Aquatic Skills Children will practice basic water safety, underwater swimming and swimming while using a combined stroke on front and back. Prerequisite: Passed Level 1 or can float independently on their front and back, and swimming on their front and back using arm and leg actions.

Stroke Development

Basic water skills, diving, front and back crawl will be emphasized with practice. Prerequisite: Passed Level 2 or can jump into deep water and can swim on both front and back.

Because Level 3 is a difficult level to pass, we added another class for students who have taken Level 3 more than 2 sessions. Level 3B students will be more experienced than those in Level 3. Focus is on endurance and stroke refinement. Prerequisite: Must have taken Level 3 for 2 or more sessions, be totally comfortable in deep water, able to dive, able to do front and back crawl.

Guardstart This exciting new program is designed to “prepare” students for the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. Participants will improve stroke mechanics, endurance, and rescue techniques in the pool. In the classroom, students will develop skills in professional responsibility, communication, and decision making. Lifeguard Training

This class provides information and training to assist Water Safety Instructors. Students will practice water safety, teaching strategies, and work on their own swimming skills. After completing the class, students may volunteer to help during Red Cross Swimming lessons. Prerequisites: Must be 11 years old, and a level 4 swimmer.

This class teaches the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course will emphasize victim recognition, surveillance, equipment based rescues, rescue skills, First Aid and CPR. Upon successful completion, students will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate and a CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate. Prerequisites: students must be 15 years old by the last day of class, swim 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, and 100 yards breaststroke or front crawl, submerge 7 feet and retrieve a 10 pound brick and swim 20 yards to the shallow end and get out of the pool. Supply fee included in tuition. Attendance is mandatory to become a lifeguard!

The Rec Center The Rec Center program offers students a new theme each week and includes daily field trips. See weekly schedule for details. The Rec Center meets in room 136 at the Edina Community Center and is open from 6:45am - 6:00pm. The bus for the field trips leaves at 10:00am and returns at 3:00pm (unless otherwise noted). Sail Calhoun – Club 420 Sailing Camp The Club 420 sailboat is a 14 ft sporty boat that accommodates three students. Lake Harriet Sailing Camp Campers will have fun learning the basics of sailing including knots, wind, boat rigging, tacking, gybing, and docking. Outdoor Survival Camp Three Rivers Park District Hyland Park Reserve Do you have what it takes? Towering Gumball Machine

Calling all fairies and princesses! Celebrate all things magical as we make tiaras, create sparkly wands, collage fairies and sprinkle them with pixie dust, sculpt our very own kissable frog out of clay, and more! Learn basic carpentry skills as you use measuring tools, saws, jigs and hammers to build a two-foot tall gumball machine. Design a mechanism to release one gumball at a time. Archery Camp Three Rivers Park District Carver Park Designed for both beginning and intermediate archers. Participants will use compound bows and practice from ground level and elevated platforms, then put their new skills to the test on a walk through course. Campers will also learn how to throw spears and study other ancient hunting skills. Program time is about 4 hours per day and the rest of the time is free play, enjoying park facilities and lunch. Campers are bused to Carver Park Reserve Archery Range in Maple Grove. Bus leaves promptly at 9:00 am and returns by 3:30. Meet outside door 3 at the Edina Community Center no later than 8:55 am! Driver Education Classroom Instruction & Behind the Wheel Ages 14-18 Flexible Scheduling— Morning, Afternoon & Evening

Classroom Instruction Classroom training is 30 hours and is followed by 6 hours of ‘Behind the Wheel’ training, offered at all times of the day. Morning classroom sessions are taught by Barry Becklin, Southview Middle School Teacher. Lessons are taught in order, Monday – Friday for two weeks and make-ups are subject to instructor approval. Make-ups for this choice must be scheduled during morning sessions only. Parent meetings are scheduled at 11:00 am the first Tuesday of each session. Afternoon and evening sessions are taught by Safeway Driving School instructors. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, a student can make it up in one of four afternoon and evening sessions this summer. Morning make-ups are not available with this choice. See lesson schedule below. Behind-the-Wheel Training Lessons consist of six hours of one-on-one private instruction with a responsible, professional driving instructor. Lessons are two-hour sessions and include pick-up and drop-off from home, work or school. Training is done on actual city streets and highways.
