Rockingham County, NC Dr. Rodney Shotwell, Superintendent of Rockingham County Schools, has been selected as the 2012 Honor Administrator Award by the North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA). He received the award during the state NCMEA in-service conference in Winston-Salem on November 12. The annual Honor Superintendent Award began in 1972 and was renamed, Honor Administrator in 2008. The award recognizes a North Carolina Administrator who provides outstanding support for music and arts programs as part of the school curriculum. Shotwell was nominated for the award by music educators of Rockingham County Schools. Ann Pratt, Choral Director & Piano Instructor at McMichael High, stated in her recommendation letter, “As a supporter of the cultural arts in Rockingham County Schools, Dr. Rodney Shotwell has proven time and time again that he is appreciative and understanding of the role of the arts in education, and is invested in their success in our county. He is intent on achievement in the arts, and aware that success requires an investment of time, finances and energy.”
