There are occasions when having the flu can be literally a lifesaver. Five local lads who went to Byron Bay High together, completing the HSC in 2012, went trekking together in Nepal and were scheduled to be in the area where three avalanches have killed over forty people. Flu held them back, however, and they decided to stay together in a hut for two days instead. One of the lads noted on his Facebook page, ‘The storm was massive but we hadn’t progressed into the danger zone… We were max chilling and safe all along. Sorry for the fright!’ Q Q Q Q

Speaking of competitions, the Sydney Film Festival is calling for entries for next year’s gig, which would be a great opportunity for north coast filmmakers.
