Celebrating 10 years of sport pilot/light-sport aircraft at Oshkosh
T
he FAA’s sport pilot/lightsport aircraft regulations celebrate 10-year anniversaries at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year, and several events and activities will help commemorate the occasion this week in Oshkosh. Officially announced just before EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2004, sport pilot/light-sport aircraft went into effect on September 1, 2004, creating not only a new marketplace of aircraft abut also an innovative way of certificating aircraft through consensus standards rather than traditional type certification. Year one: Several LSA on display at AirVenture’s first LSA Mall in 2005.
